I think I don't know enough about the individuals involved to fairly comment.

PS: Yes Lappin was hired as a direct replacement for McCartney.

On the face it, the coaching panel seems a little on the inexperienced side to me. That's just an observation. But there's some excellent people there, and let's hope we have the mix right.

Thanks for clearing up the McCartney/Lappin thing.

The balance is pretty good IMO. Perhaps a Wayne Brittain could be a complementing asset but I'm happy with the current set up.

Ratten and Riley both have senior AFL coaching experience. (caretaker)
Riley was a highly rated junior coach and successfully coached in the WAFL. The then spent several years at Melbourne where he was very highly rated within the industry.

Crosisca has many years experience as an assistant coach and experience as a VFL coach. We have successful premiership players within the coaching ranks and Montgomery, Teague and Lappin supply the recently retired perspective.
That intimate understanding of the modern game can not be underestimated.

I'm excited about the balance we have.

Weren't we told (by a board member or Swann IIRC :?: ) that there'd be extra coaching personnel employed this season to spread the load and boost development?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with who we have but why say something and then not do it?

We did try and poach Alan Richardson. But after the Swann coup Eddie was a wee bit cranky and he bullied Richardson into thinking twice. ;)

Saw him work with some the injury group on skills, reflex actions, etc.

He seems to be liked by the players based on the laughs they were having.
