I just can't see Simmo, as good a player he is telling Judd to do this and do that.

C'mon Warby, you've got to remember that anything Lyon says publicly should be regarded as 'theatre' and that he is no different to Sam Newman these days .. an entertainer (apparantly)

That statement on Judd was the only snippet he would reveal about the meeting....the only one.....it certainly wasn't "theatre"....if it had been....I wouldn't have mentioned it....anyway......I thought SOME posters may find it of interest.

I suppose you expected Chris to say he expected to be Captain of the club he goes to.

Did I say I expected anything?............. :?

I was down the shop buying the paper and it had "the eagle has landed and it's blue Heaven" headline with a really decent photoshopped picture of Judd.

I was so excited and all that!

I said to the lady who served me, who I didn't know from a bar of soap. "Looks good in the Navy Blue hey?"

She replied, "Yep, We don't want him here at Collingwood because we'd have to break up all the young kids and I wouldn't swap em for anyone."

"You're just jealous" I said.. "Nope" She said. "you can have him, he's just a money hungry pig anyway"

Love it. :-D

This shouldn't just apply to the captain - any of the 22 players out on the field should have the confidence to say something to another player if they think it is worth it (especially someone in the leadership group which I expect Simmo will be).

As much as its great to look up to Judd and learn from him, as Ratts has stated on the radio recently, that 'aura' is beginning to disappear (not in a bad way) and Judd is just becoming one of the boys.

Collingwood supporters have always been irrational, seems nothing has changed.

Mate of mine is a die hard Collingwood fan, and when I saw him after we snared Judd, he had that "I can't help but smile, and I hate the fact I am doing it, but even I, a die hard Pies man, can't hide the fact I am jealous as all shit" look on his face.

It was priceless I'll tell you, just priceless.

Yep good point

I mean, seriously, how can you be sick of seeing the news that Judd is with the Blues?

There is a thread about delusional Essendon* Supporters - but with Collingwood they dont even rate as idiots.

Firstly, he's not going to have to tell Judd, and you'd hope the rest of the leadership group, to do this and do that.

Secondly, thats what leaders do anyway, whether you can see it or not.

Never forget Simmo made such an impression as a leader, when given his week, that they scrapped the rotation and made him stand in captain until Whitnall returned.

They don't do that unless you're telling players to do this and do that.

My bet is that Gibbs will take over the captaincy in 3 years time - which is not only a smart move for the club, because he is a gun and a quality person - but also in order to ensure we retain him from the SAs clubs who will be in his ear constantly. He is going to be something special. So give it to Judd or Simmo until then. I think Murph has a shot also (not this year of course).

Murph is a gun and one of my favourite players.

JohnM makes some excellent points

I reckon Simmo will get it .. C5J will just want to play football but will still be part of the leadership team .. I don't think many people will be telling him what to do and where to go anyway: being the best footballer in the league he'll know what to do and where to go

Can't wait to see him sing our song!
