I'm told reliably that we are past the 19,000 mark. Apparently the membership department had over 17,000 early this week and estimate at least 2,000 to process. I hope that is right. :?

Can someone get them to the membership tally on the website ? I think this makes people want to get the number higher when they see it.

Ver cool...
also a nice touch in "inside Carlton" printing and thanking all the names of new members

Well add 3 to that tally very soon. I've still got to renew my membership and managed to convince both my brother and girlfriend to sign up this year.

Could you honestly see Ratts sticking his head into the Membership department and asking what the tally is at the moment! :-D

You would imagine that job should fall to the PR/Comms person who should then brief Ratts, so Ratts doesn't spout off with a figure he pulled from his arse.

But isn't Coutts forever on holidays?

Was in there today, adding 5 memberships to the tally...

*15,500 - at least 5,000 (and 5!) still to be processed*

*Blitzes any amount of memberships at the start of the year, any year*

*Was told that with the renewals, and the large amount of new memberships, that the membership dept. has been told that 40k isn't a possibility, more of a probability!*

*Membership dept. guy told me he supported Carlton - upon some harassment fessed up that he is a Filth supporter, and that they are told to tell everyone that they are Blues supporters*

...now it has to be said, would anybody here work in the Filth's membership dept. - let alone tell everyone that they are Filth supporters!??

Anyways, just my update from the horses mouth.

It really is now a No-Brainer, or do you need more proof? :P

If they can count an election booth in a few hours, why can't they count 5,000 memberships. They don't have to process them, just give us a figure

PS: I know we have less staff than voting booths had.

You know, I have often thought the same thing. They will submit our applications by the close of business today - and we will get our cards and so on by the end of Jan *2 weeks or so*... but there is always 5k memberships yet to be 'processed' - what exactly does it mean? Is it just the count? Once memberships are logged into the system (in order to allocate cards and so on) couldn't they be counted with the click of a button?!

Meh.

On another note, I think it's better that the tally isn't put up until mid-Feb or so... sure it's great for us tragics who also want to know what toothpaste Kreuzer uses, but better to release the numbers when we're closer to gunning down our membership record - and the mystical, elusive 40k. 8)

This is awesome. I've spoken to quite a few people who dont follow Carlton or Richmond who are going to go to the Round 1 match. Do you think it could be a sellout? Richmond fans are always on board and in the box seat early.
