Great interview by David Rhys Jones in IF December edition talking with a great Carlton rover. Mostly about his playing career but also touches on his current day role with the club.

IF is still a crappy mag and not really worth $5.95, but if you can borrow a copy the interview is well worth reading.

No, definitely worth buying the magazine as it has some great photos of Ashman and it is a really interesting article.


One thing I got out of the article was his comment that the midfielders rarely had to go to defence. With a team that had Southby, Doull etc in it there was no need to give support to defence.



Interesting comment..... carlton's great teams have always had exceptional defenders more so than forwards.

I reckon it was a deliberate coaching tactic by the various coaches of the day to keep our midfield out of our backline............















.........with the quality defenders that we had, we had to give the other 15 teams SOME kinda chance! :lol:
