OK.......did anyone hear the stuffwit who rang in this morning to say that he has been ringing the AFL consistently and asking them when they are going to do something about Richard Pratt....and why they haven't yet?

All Smith said was that "Pratt is a major embarrassment to the AFL"....

I did hear him, I thought he might burst into tears, at the thought that the AFL might not do anything about Pratt. He was hilarious. Everyone in the office had a laugh.

I personally love it when the two dinosaurs are called up on their obvious anti-Carlton bias, and they respond with the most insincere and disingenous"Oh, but I lurrve Carlton!"

Outside food is not allowed at the Phone Dome is it?

As far as I know any food brought from home is fine to be allowed into the ground, what they are outlawing at the Dome is the food purchased from vendors outside of the ground (such as Donut Vans, Nando's, Subway, etc.)

All a bit of a farce if you ask me, I purchased Nando's chips before I enter the ground (in a brown paper bag!), put them in my backpack, cover them with footy stuff such as beanie, scarf etc.

Then I walk into the ground, open my bag for security, they take ONE look in there and give it a little pat near the bottom of it and move me on - it has been my opinion for years that security bag checking is p*ss weak at the football.

There was a change of heart midway through the year when Collo was forced to allow 'outside food' into the ground.
Furthermore, the security seemed to become even more lax later in the year when people were just wandering in with their Subway, Kebab or whatever else they purchased from outside the ground. Did it a few times myself without any reprisals from the guards, or without having to hide a greasy kebab and 600ml coke in the pocket of my duffle coat.

It could be that the rules changed from the heavy policing where Collo had to 'look after his vendors" or that the guards got sick of eating left over Pizza's and couldn't fit any more in.

Interesting to see what happens next year and what the official policy of the Teltra Dome is as it stands for the beginning of footy next year. Do you think anyone outside the mainstream medja will be able to find the exact wording of their food policy?

Coincidentally after Ron Evans passed away?

By taking about him you give him credibility...

He is selling his stories in the paper.. and his time on SEN...

I wouldnt even bring him up...

That's the Ticket!

Ignore im...make him irrelevant!

Boycott him, and if you have to listen to SEN, deny the fact you do.

too right - i've been taking in cans since i was about 11 and i've only been caught once, the checks they do are just a waste of time. i mean if someone really wanted to take a gun in there (thank god it ain't soccer) i think he could do it with no problems. but i guess they're more worried about people smuggling nando's or subway into the ground.

Did anyone else hear the caller this morning who brought up the AFL Catering Contract which rips off the Australian public?

He asked KB and Smith.....why isn't that business bringing the game into disrepute by charging outrageous prices for food and drink to captive audiences?

No comment from either of them.....KB thanked him for the call and went to a break.............

Has anyone bought food at any other live events?

Food prices are the same wherever you go, its not something unique to AFL.

2 Points:

1: Firstly one of the largest catering companies "Spotless" was directly controlled and partly owned by Ron Evans - an AFL Chief Commissioner - same Commission that fixtures AFL games at venues where this company has contracts to cater - CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

I would draw your attention in particular to Spotless Catering buying the catering company that had the catering rights to Subiaco Oval (Mustard Catering) before it was known that the AFL were going to fixture all AFL games in Perth to Subiaco rather than splitting them between the WACA and Subiaco - CLEARLY INSIDER TRADING ON RON EVANS PART.

2. Spotless engage in manifest obvious price fixing and gouging and ripping off the AFL public - very reputable behaviour on Ron Evans' part.

Hope his casket is lined with old pie wrappers.

The thing is though that its the same at just about every live event you can think of.

Check out the food prices at the Aus Open this January.

So he's not prepared to have a "Mokbel" running a football club because it brings the game into "disrepute", but has no problem receiving money off him?

That one sentence alone speaks volumes about this bitter clown.

He is seriously embrrassing himself with this vendetta.

He is also taking pot-shots at Fitzy, which just reinforces his hatred of Carlton.

The only thing we lost the day Ron Evans stood down as Chairman of the AFL was a Chairman who was manifestly the biggest hypocrite, liar and had a monstrous conflict of interest.

How do the AFL Public feel about being ripped off for years by paying for $5 for a bottle of water at AFL Venues catered for by a monopoly scenario headed by this so called beacon of corporate morals and ethics.

I'd feel pretty pissed that the marble/granite monument atop this turd's grave was financed by $5 bottles of water and overpriced and underheated pies.

With any luck Fatprick you will be joining him for a flat beer real soon.

I've given this some thought, as we all have from time to time I'm sure. I think today will be the end of this way one or another and it might put poor old Pat out of his misery. It may also be the end of Dick. It also may not. I hope not and admire Swanny and the club sticking by him. I think it is very commendable.

It is bordering on OCD, the way PS is carrying on.

There is a simple equation to all of this: Cousins punished. Pratt punished. Cases closed. They have or are paying their debt to their respective authorities. It should end there.

Personally a stern warning and a 'We're watching you' attitude from the AFL would suffice as far as our beloved President is concerned.

Dick Pratt, as Mike Sheahan has said has brought himself into disrepute, not the game. Maybe I'm biased. Maybe we all are, but for the right reasons. Maybe, more to the point PS is biased against Carlton and should take a sedative.

The thing is, Smith won't let this issue go. No matter how much Carlton people describe it as a vendetta, or similar, he just won't let it go until Pratt is gone.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pratt has thought about stepping aside over this issue. If the Carlton faithful here in general-public-land feel strongly that Pratt should stay, then maybe they need to try and make their voices heard??? Call up SEN, 3AW etc, write letters to the editor to the Australian, whatever people think is necessary. Whatever people want to say though, will meet robust criticism and needs to be able to withstand such, because whether we like it or not, Smith presents a compelling case to the independent observer.

Personally, I struggle with the issue a bit. On the one hand I'm so thankful and grateful for the things Pratt has set up for our club in 12 months he has been on board. And, if he is able to continue, then one can only imagine the club will be in an even stronger position for it. However, I'm not sure I could strongly defend his position as President if the AFL Commission decided to have a quiet word in his ear.

While Pratt has done so much great work at Carlton in his brief tenure to date, if required, do we have a President in waiting? Is now the right time for Fahour? If not, who?

The thing I struggle with, is if Pratt was president of another club, while I would not necessarily be actively calling for his head, I couldn't see myself actively defending either.

And, right now, it hurts to hold that opinion. :|

Pratt only ever said he would be there 2 years. I think Patrick Smith will claim a victory when he leaves next September. He has been completely unselfish with regards to the Carlton Football Club. He has given his all and that is all that matters

If it came from a Credible Journo who i had some respect for maybe but coming from the flower shrivelled up tool his opinions really count for little

As pointed out stating how Evans was someone with integrity and did things just further confines this gnome to be irrelevent

Totally accurate. Just don't read his crap. If enough people ignored him he would be sacked (an outcome that would satisfy the majority of football fans).

To underline the obsession Smith has for this subject; The Age has an article in today's issue about today's AFL Commission Meeting; and the subject matters The Age feels the meeting will address.

This article doesn't even mention the Pratt matter....at all.
