How's this for some ripper quotes from the wise man...

[quote]“I think it means everything for our club. We tried every time we went out. I think at the end of the day it was effort that got us over the line in the finish when we were challenged late in the last quarter.â€

The best example of that quote is Livo.

I'm glad he's allowed the players to celebrate the win. I know it's the Wizz Cup but it's a big thing for us considering where we've come from & they should be really proud of that. They still have another 2 weeks until the real stuff starts, so long enough to refocus for round 1. Why shouldn't they be rewarded for a massive 4 weeks?

Fair dinkum, if this guy played marbles against his kids he would be hell bent on winning. This is the sort of attitude that should never, ever leave our club

I think Pagan reckons the boys will give a good account of themselves this year, but I interpret that quate as Denis saying that we still have a long way to go to get where he wants us to be, but the Wiz Cup was an important milestone, the dawn of self-belief and a big sign that its all heading in the right direction.

Enjoy the win. Knuckle down. Get on with it.

*2 year bump*

Trawling through a few of the old, old threads on here (it's a slow work - i mean a no work day) - when I came across this short thread.

Thought I'd dredge up this, mainly on account of the brisk optimism displayed after a Pre-Season Cup win (which we all know better than to get excited about now) and more notably the fact that Camelboy openly declares his love for Old Man Pagan. :-D :P

Thank God you don't start dragging up some of my old posts then Sparky! I wasn't just a Paganite, I was in hook, line and sinker! Anyway we move on before Jim starts chucking rocks at me.

I think what is important is that we are all Blues supporters and hopefully we have moved on to a new and exciting era. If we focus on the past, we'll be bitter and twisted (like Agro...LOL), but if we embrace the present, the future will take care of itself.

Let me tell you, the future will be every bit as exciting as the golden era or 1968- 2000; only better now that we have embraced the AFL Blueprint (excuse the pun). If only our forum members would appreciate that we needed to be on the brink of almost oblivion to rise again as a serious force. I liken our bleak era since Black Friday to a raging firestorm, similar to Ash Wednesday. Sure it did untold damage, but the regrowth has been spectacular. :-D

The Carlton footy club is so much better placed than all the other Victorian pretenders. It makes me wonder what they have been doing whilst we have been away? If you think they have hated us, pitied us and even laughed at us in the past in various times, you ain't seen nothing yet. The Filth, Scum, Ferals, Aints, Dawks etc are cacking their kimbies at the inevitable rise of the CFC as a Super Power of the AFL. I have a car number plate that reflects 16 Flags and some time ago tried to get the same with 17, but it wasn't available to my disdain. I am so confident that I have made inquiries about getting CFC 18, 19 & 20.

Are we back yet? No....not yet, but we are friggin coming at a squilion miles an hour. These other poxy clubs and their toothless supporters better get outta our way! 8) As Sticks said. We are Carlton....you know the rest!

Everyday i wake up and thank god he's gone.

:-D

There's only one other sensation that comes close to the felling of Pagan no longer being accociated with the Navy Blues.

Bitter and twisted moi!!! :P

If you read my posts in the Tanking Debate threads of this year - you will realize that I am all about the future.

Just because I want to see Demetrispew join his mentor in the steaming pits of hell - doesnt make me bitter and twisted.
