Why isn't De Iulio at full forward?

Brown Jamieson Thornton

Hadley Bower Scotland

Stevens Gibbs Simpson

Waite Cloak Walker

Betts Fevola Fisher

Hampson Judd Murphy

INT: Jackson Houlihan Ohailpin Kreuzer

This is my submission.

Starting from the back, I think Brown will be our specialist back pocket. From all reports he is sure of himself when in possession and has very good disposal and pace. Jamo, I see as a no frills type whose primary role is that of a stopper. Thornton will add some experience on the last line and have the luxury of exposing a secondary forward.

The half back line - the flanks offer us some experience and weight. Its functionality is heavily reliant on Hadley being able to cover the other two when they run. Hopefully he will provide the cover Peter Dean afforded Christou and McKay.

Centre - I see Gibbs as a playmaker. He can cool the game with his balanced mind and skills.

Half Forward - Having a look at the the other teams submitted, I think we look a little light across this line. I still like the idea of a big CHF. Waite's agility and run can compensate for Cloak and the repercussions of Walker's average disposal is limited in the forward line. He also provides another X factor and his speed and grunt will apply the required defensive pressure.

Full Forward - Fairly self explantory. Fish adds another marking option and some good conversion.

Followers - Murphy to steal the ball, Judd the get away car.

Interchange - A composite of run, polish and power. Jackson is a running machine and relieving will run other teams into the ground. Houla is the kind of player that will kill a game - the ideal impact player and Setanta can be swung forward or back or even unleashed on the midfield. Kruezer offers some rucking relief and another option to run opponents into the ground.

Yep... pretty happy with that.

Your thoughts?

We really need to get an offical :Melvey: icon

But I do agree with him partically. Jamison will be great for us but I suspect he doesn't have the height or the build to hold down full back against the power forwards of the comp.

I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

Great looking team,I likje Bower at CHB and walker forward, however you seem to have made one obvious change that is questionable.

Effectively our BnF ball magnet (whether in the middlefield or the BP) is an instant selection till knocked off his perch; he's the leader of the pack till Judd rocked up.

IMO, if we could afford to, Carrazzo is our best option for the BP. Proven...in fact he's stepped up to the midfield.

You seem to have made a conscious move to replace our 23 yo BnF with 6 years senior experience (AFL/ VFL) for an unproven first year player who will be 19 this year, after playing one season of seniors in WAFL.

It doesn't seem logical. :?

I think you are living in hope, and obviously you're yet to be convinced by the much improved Carrazzo. He's got nothing else to prove except hold his own. My suspicion is he will step up another level in 2008. There's no reason why it wouldn't happen (if you follow his graph of improvement).

That's the only area I clearly disagree with you.

Against current form, personally I'd punt on Aisake replacing Cloke at CHF, and continue to put games into him this year; I'd say Aisake is a better long term prospect to play in our next flag at KP (or anywhere else)than Cloke, Hartlett and Austin. But that's just me.

We would have to be the worst supporters when it comes to talking up players.

Jamison just don't cut the mustard the same goes with Blackwell & Bentick.

I hope i am proven wrong with Jamo.

good day sir.

I remember the fullback of the century getting double figures kicked against him.
Unfortunately even the greatest full backs get goals kicked on them and have lesser days.
To suggest Jamo was "slaughtered is a total misrepresentation. Generally, he acquitted himself very well for a first year player.

You're not here for the hunting, are you Melvey?

Jamo is the best spolier at our club by a country mile. The assistants I have spoken to are a huge wrap for him.

He still has some weeknesses including positioning, but like Darren Glass the ability to close a leading player down and spoil is what makes a defender A Grade. Go back and watch a few tapes of his games, you might be surpised how much talent he showed this year.

Melvey, I have to tell you, I think it's the opposite from my experience. I have found it easy to win money from Carlton supporters over the last 10 years, due to their pessimistic attitude towards their players.

AFAIK, Jamison has only played for Carlton in 2008, after being recommended to the Blues by his former coach and Carlton backline coach, Gavin Crosisca.

I have seen every game he's played in 2008. I'm dumfounded with your suggestion he's been "SLAUGHTERED". Is that a slight exaggeration or is that the apt word to describe his performance?

Tell me who slaughtered him?
Where did he go wrong?
Why doesn't he have an upside?
What are the negatives in his game?
Did you see evry game he played?

I can't see how you possibly see such a negative picture. You must have your reasons.
