I think this was in 1971/1972 - and it was Victoria -v- Western Australia, played at VFL Park Waverley.

We got given free tickets at school - and I pestered my dad to take me - first time we ventured out there (and I think we got lost - as I vaguely recall my dad with some Greek expletives - in particular "Pou sto thialo mas pires - and the all time favourite "Mas epires sto thialos tis manas".




Oh yeah I also remember the mark - he just sat on top of that pack of players from almost a standing start.

i grew up 30 minutes further away than....."sto thialo tis manas".........!

good ol "arctic park"..........i now visit the old stand there
to see my dentist..........and all you can hear is the THUD on
the ceiling...from the Hawks players dropping their
training weights on the next floor up.............!

they've been told to place them down slowly.........but to
no avail.............they still drop them........!

the surface looks beautiful still..........!
