1972. Round 21. I was eight. Princes Park. Carlton V Hawthorn. Greg Kennedy kicked 12! Big Nick sprinted towards a flat-footed Ken Beck and literally took the ball from his hands. Beck was looking around wondering where it was. It was as funny and as amazing as Harry's run in '93.

What a player Big Nick was! I had just become a Carlton follower and the Hawthorn fan's were giving him heaps, only because he was so good. And they were calling Micheal Tuck 'Friar'.

Great memories. The best way to start off being a Carlton supporter.

Earliest memory would be at a carlton v. Essendon* game.
I was stuck in front of one of those loud blokes yelling (you know the ones). I think he called just about every player on the field a "lemon"
Then later in the match, I remember we were down by a bit and he yelled out "oh sh!t, watch out Essendon*, they just put MANSFIELD on" - now i was only young (and thanks to him half deaf) at the time, but even I laughed at that one

Can't remember the first game I saw on tv, but I'm thinking it was perhaps the 81 or 82 gf (as I remember choosing Carlton as my team specifically over Richmond, who my brother supported).

The first game I went to was in 1990, watching us get hammered by the filth by 9 goals at Waverley and with that smartarse Daicos kicking 5. The fact that right behind me were two of the biggest stereotypes of the 'toothless bogan filth supporter' who would not shut up for the whole game, an experience that turned me off going to football for a few years afterwards.

The first game I went to was the last H&A game in 1968 v. North at Arden St. I was 7 and my father thought I would get bored but I was absolutley riveted. Carlton were in front all day and eased off to win by 21 points. After the game the North cheer squad were burning their floggers on the oval.

My second match was v. Hawthorn in R2 1969 when we kicked 30.30 which was the record score at the time and is still our biggest score. The comic highlight was Percy Jones running into goal and unable to get it onto his boot before he crossed the line.

My first live Carlton match was the 2004 Whiz Cup v the Swines

The best day at the footy for mine was the Last Hoorah at [Product Name] oval .. allowed me at least the one day at my own personal Mecca .. the stories and vision from the past -- the stuff about the Press Box was probably more important than most other stuff -- but getting to meet Diesel, Ang (Woof) Christou, and Sticks was obviously something one could not experience at a normal club match .. or could it?

sigh

on tv, I remember playing on the lounge room floor while my parents and grandpa watched footy.
The first game I remember actually sitting and watching with them would be the 81 or 82 gf. I was about 5 or 6. Dad and grandpa promised to take me to a game when we could get to melbourne.

Actually going to a game was a differnent matter! We spent most of my childhood living in the middle of nowhere so I didn't go to my first match until 1994 (after both my dad and grandpa had passed away  )

It was SOS's 250th at the MCG. Not a bad way to start  Now I love going to as many matches as possible - to make up for all the years I missed out.

Apart from the 1992 Grand Final and scattered games, my first strong Carlton memory was Round Ten, 1995, against Hawthorn at Princes Park.

Carlton 9.3 57 16.6 102 20.13 133 26.16 172
Hawthorn 2.1 13 5.4 34 9.6 60 10.10 70

I don't remember the game much because I was about eight at the time but because it was such a white-wash I spent some of the day fossicking about in the guts of the Ald Gardiner stand, fetching food and kicking the footy and just those things you could do at Princes Park because it felt like a real home ground.

After the game my sister kicked a ball that hit a mounted police officer. Pretty funny.

How funny!! That Hawthorn game was my first ever carlton game. Had to stand behind the goals where the legends stand now is and couldn't see much over the crowd but could hear the roar of the crowd with every carlton goal that day........trust me there was alot of them.

From memory Sticks, Kouta and Mil all kicked 5 goals.

Had watched alot of carlton games on the tv before but that game possibly made me a BLUE for life. Felt that navy blue blood running through the weins from then on!! Go blues!!

1993 Carlton vs Essendon* MCG
went with 2 other school mates, as we were about to purchase the tickets, this elderly man, an Essendon* supporter came up to us and asked us if we wanted to get in for free as he has a family pass, so we got in for free, very nice Essendon* supporter!

don't know if it was my first game but definately early on (circa 1981?). We went to the zoo as a family one saturday afternoon. Dad was looking at his watch the entire time. Once mum was done looking at the animals, dad said "why don't we go to the footy"? This was in the days where you got in for free at 3/4 time. We packed in to Princes Park to see the last quater of the Footscray game. From memory we won.

Good times Good times....
