The NT News reports today that Lance Whitnall will play out the NT Football League season with the Palmerston Magpies in the Northern Territory Football League. The NTFL season is almost half completed as we play in the wet season up here - from October to March.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that he intended a cameo appearance by just playing one or two games but today the club announced he will play at least the next four and return after the Xmas break for the rest of the season.

Apparently Lances cousin Ashley Williams invited him to play in Darwin. Lance has been a regular visitor to Darwin and often has been seen at the Palmerston TAB. Locals say his mum lives in Palmerston.

It says he is being courted by several clubs around the country.

Me thinks a club with a good tuck shop would just about get the prize.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hwthorn pick him up in the PSD to play a bit of a mentoring role to Stuart Dew.

Wasn't he saying three weeks ago that if he kept playing footy he'd be a cripple in 5 years and unable to play with his kids?

Lesson for all you 17yo draftees: WORK ON YOUR POST-FOOTBALL CAREER! On this front, David Parkin was 100% right.

I think he can get away with moving in a 5 metre arc in front of goal in the NTFL. ;)

They don't really have many big targets up there, so the boys will be loving it.

Lance has been named in the forward pocket for this Sundays game between Palmerston Magpies and Nightcliff Tigers.

I was hoping to get to the game but I am off to Brisbane for a few days for a conference.

We breed em tough in the Territory, Jars......

..."A FOUR-year-old boy has been found playing in a croc-infested Territory creek after sneaking off pig hunting alone with four dogs and a puppy.

The toddler was found five-and-a-half hours after he set off from his parents' house playing in a creek with the puppy.

Amazingly, Daniel Woditj also swam TWO creeks known to be inhabited by crocs during his adventurous romp.

He left his house after eating breakfast with his family last Monday morning at the Peppimenarti community, 200km southwest of Darwin.

Parents Captain and Mary Woditj, noticed Daniel was missing two hours later and alerted the community. ...
... etc

It just wouldn't be the NT News without a croc story on the front page.

Hey, Noonamah, have fun at the footy. I'll get to see Lance next game - I can't bring myself to barrack for the Magpies but will give Lance a cheer.

And for other TC'ers info... if Noonamah blue does live near Noonamah, he had 53 crocodiles escape from the Croc Farm near his residence last year and roam around the streets. People find crocodiles in their carport at Noonamah. It helps keep the stray dog population down :)

It'll be a cold day hell before I barrack for a magpie of any description , but I would l like to see Lance kick a few.

And NT Blue you know very well that we don't have streets and carports in this here neck of the woods, thats only something you big city types have in Darwin. :-D

Dylan McLaren has joined Lance at the Palmerston Magpies according to back page story in todays NT News. Sorry I can't locate electronic version but the story has a photo of Dylan at training in Palmerston jumper.

Palmerston play the Tiwi Islands side this week. The article quotes Dylan as saying that his mum had watched the Tiwi Bombers side on ABC 2 and said "I hope you've got your running legs on... as they are lightning quick".

If the Palmerston Magpies want to catch the Tiwi Islanders I think they should have recruited Eddie Betts X 18 instead of Lance and Dylan.
