i'd personally like Stevo for skipper, but it won't happen.

Judd is here for more than on-field magic, we got him for marketing as well, so he'll be the skipper.

not saying that it's right, but pragmatism will win out. $ talks

MURPHY!

Give it to him now. Let him be our longest serving captain since Braddley.

Have Stevens / Judd / Simmo as vice captains.

He's not ready yet.

It's Simmo, Stevens or Judd.

I'm with you.

I worry that he doesn't want the job, and that it might affect his desire as he is under enough pressure to deliver in his knew task.

I guess in the end he is here on a very tidy wage, he knows that we know that, and you have to earn your money.

He is also the most qualified player for the role by a mile.

Stevens is a sentimentle choice, and i guess i don't want him to feel as though he has been screwed over. Maybe because of his injury he wouldn't mind not having the added pressure......

Heart says Simmo

Head has it tied between Simmo and Judd

I think this is about the 4th - 'who do you want to see as captain?' thread in which I have posted.

I'll therefore answer for the fourth time that Judd should get the job, and I expect that he will get the job. It's almost a no-brainer.

If they have a meltdown in the MC though and offer it to someone else then it should be Simmo.

Those advocating Stevens should read some of Dr Sherrin's informed posts on the likelihood of a successful comeback from the type of injury he has had.

Yeah .... I'm sorry if my earlier post didn't come across as sarcastic.

IMHO the new Carlton doesn't need superstar captains, it needs good ones .... and a good candidate is Simmo

he clearly showed that he valued the opportunity to be acting captain, he showed respect for the honour and willingness to lead by example

he may not be the most talented player but I think he has spirit, ambition and maturity to become a great captain IMHO

Good point!

Classic example of using attributes effectively.

Money's on Stevo, but Simmo is equally worthy.

SIMMO really stood up and was counted in the role last year

I am a big fan of Simmo and he was very good when he had the chance to lead.

A couple of weeks ago Ratten said that the leadership group of 6 or 7 would all be given the opportunity to be captain during the preseason. A decision on the captaincy will be made close to the start of the 2008 season.

If the players have a say in it, or even just the leadership group, they will want Judd. Our players have already made so many positive comments about Judd and his attitude. He is only going to go harder when he is 100% fit.

You want someone with a bit of gravitas that can help market the Club and marshal the troops. We all love Simmo but he aint that type of person. Also, can you imagine Judd, Stevens or Fev for that matter being dragged into a huddle and addressed by Simmo. I don't. I think it's between Stevens and Judd and for the reasons I just mentioned, I think it will be Judd. When the man speaks, everyone will listen in the manner Sticks used to do!

My heart says Judd...because he'll be a Blue for at least the next 5 years; stability.

My head says... Judd...because is the most respected leader at the club, let alone the AFL; face it he's the most referred and best at the club.

It's a no brainer...and with that there's no need to compare, degrade, belittle other Navy Blue candidates like Stevens, Simmo, Murphy, Fev... in support of our favourites (not criteria to judge with) as we did when there wasn't a Judd on the list.

It's not a healthy exercise trying to find and prove personal/ individual weaknesses of OUR players from a couch when the accusations aren't even true.

JUDD to lead us to the 17th Flag, and everyone will follow with gusto.

JUDD

Let's face it, whether Judd was captain or not at West Coast he played exactly the same.

He's not the sort of bloke who needs to consciously lead or play a captain's game. It's in built!

Stevo? Not for me I'm afraid.

If Judd wasn't around, then toss a coin between young fellas, Simmo or Murph.

But Judd is around.

So Judd me up buttercup.

I agree.

But it will be Judd I reckon.

Simmo shined when he had it last year.

I'll be disappointed if he's overlooked.

Giving it to Judd isn't the right thing to do IMO.

Simpson/Waite/Walker/Judd for me. Stevens is having a laugh if he thinks he can skipper this club after eating all the pies, and before someone says 'but he's been injured' - yeah that's what seperates guys like Judd from Stevo; when they're injured they find ways they can maintain their condition and lay off the pints and parmas.

Yeah, but Simmo had been pretty consistent over the last 2 years, captain or not. Simmo's a gun!

If he's named VC does that imply he's been overlooked?
If the players (which may include Simmo) and the MC vote for Judd, would you be disappointed?

Why?

What if the players want him to lead, as I expect?

What has Simmo got that Judd hasn't? We all know what Simmo hasn't got that Judd's got.

Judd is a no brainer... which means even if ytou had no brains youd realise Judd will be captain next year...

...and then some of you think it will be Stevo or
simmo...... or Betts...or Saddo.. or Bannister... or Wiggo...or whatever...

Can you please think about it???

On one hand a bloke who has done it ALL.. the consumate professional.. a guy that every player on our list idolises and wants to emmulate....
2 times grandfinal player.. 1 x flag winning CAPTAIN.. 1 x brownlow meddalist all before 24 yrs old...

On the other hand we have other players who have achieved much less... and have little idea what it takes to become a champion... asnd a consistent player.. and been part of wooden sppon sides... year in year out... with only Lance and Kouta to emmulate....

Touch choice.

You can bet your bottom dollar the players want Judd...!!!

Led by Fev....
So can quit guessing childish answers???

If he's a strong enough leader he'll have no hesitation in doing just that.

He certainly had no hesitation in taking on Dean Brogan and flying the flag latter in the season when Fev was flattened.

Correct Synbad

Now I love Simmo but can you imagine him saying something inspirational in the heat of the battle. Ummm No. Just because you are a good player does not mean you can automaticaly captain.

What makes some of you think that Simmo performed a good job in his short stint of captain this year ? Just because he played well. So do you think he would feel comfortable telling Juddy or Stevo what to do ?

Judd is the only one, in my opinion. Stevo does not lead by example with his body, or else I would be happy with him as well. But now that we have Judd, there is no other option. He is the ONE>>>>>>>
