A sad day for the club. Condolences to George's family and friends.

Noted him as an absentee for the last fortnight or so (I'm assuming it was the man himself who held the George Harris forum account).

He will be missed.

The Blueseum has been working on the George Harris story for some time - one of wonderful stories and memories, highlighting the Carlton Legend that he was. The full story (as utilised by carltonfc.com.au) is attached.

George Harris - RIP.

George Harris was responsible for turning this club around from its second longest period of premiership drought ie: 1947 to 1968 - and the man responsibile for bringing Ron Barassi to the club.

He is a true legend of the Carlton Football Club and should be rightly remembered as such - condolences to his family.

Quite simply the greatest club president in VFL/AFL history.

Not only brought success to our club during both terms, but was a rare visionary.

A war hero who was a prisoner of the Japanese during WWII.

Thank you George for both your immortal words in 1979 (What's better than beating Collingwood by ten goals in a Grand Final? Beating them by five points!), and the incomparable contribution you made to making our club the greatest in the land.

That last note addressed to the club was very moving.

In 2008 Carlton will rise
