Additional pro for my 24:

- Flexible set of talls to work around Jamison, Thornton, Fisher & Fevola

But this team and the names of the players on the sidelines is more appetising. :)

Exciting times

Great list albeit young/ inexperience LzAngeles (and a PSD & rookies coming too)

Thus far, my NAB 24 (no players on injury list)

B: Scotland Jamison Thornton
HB:Walker Setanta Bower
C: Simpson Stevens Murphy
R: Aisake Judd Carrazzo
HF: Houlihan Waite Fisher
F: Kreuzer Fevola Gibbs

I: Hampson, Hartlett, Hadley, Jackson, Armfield, Browne

This is the first time in a long time I haven't included the powerful Bentick.

If Armfield & Browne not ready in Feb then their positions taken by

Russell and Betts. (better engines/ up to speed with seniors pace?)

Russell, Grigg, close. Betts beaten by better forward in Gibbs.

Anderson (disposal issue) been taken over by Browne.
Bower in front of Austin (still developing)

Cloke and Ackland are short support ruckmen. Who knows, maybe Cloke may take Hartlett's spot.

Come on Harts....get on with it!

Wiggins, Bannister, Saddington, Blackwell, Benjamin on the outer.

It used to be tough finding players to put in the team, now it's tough finding players to leave out.

Cazz has all but outlined that we're giving Armfield first crack at this role.

I like the sound of that. But assuming this is Round 1, I would prefer Cloke over Ackland and possibly Browne over Russell. And Gibbs in the centre and Jackson on the starting bench. Just my opinion.

Certainties (if fit):

B Mark Jamison, Bret Thornton
HB Ryan Houlihan, Jarrad Waite, Heath Scotland
C Andrew Walker, Andrew Carrazzo, Kade Simpson
HF Bryce Gibbs, Setanta O'hAilpin, Marc Murphy
F Eddie Betts, Brendan Fevola, Brad Fisher
R Cameron Cloke, Chris Judd, Nick Stevens

Rotating through the other five positions (in no particular order):
Richard Hadley, Shaun Grigg, Adam Bentick, Jordan Bannister, Dennis Armfield, Shaun Hampson, Matthew Kruezer, Cain Ackland, Mark Austin, Paul Bower, Adam Hartlett, Ryan Jackson, Aisake O'hAilpin, Jordan Russell, Luke Blackwell, Jordan Saddington, Simon Wiggins, Joe Anderson

The rest might get a chance towards the end of the year.

That's 17 players going after five spots. If I was coaching I would rule a line (barring major injury issues) through Bannister, Ackland, Blackwell, Saddington and Wiggins. I'd also prefer to play kids such as Austin, Kruezer, Hampson in the twos as much as possible unless they're knocking down the door or we want to give one of the rucks a chance as a backup ruckman in the AFL. I'd probably be saying the same to Bower and Russell. No more freebie games in the seniors for those two, they'll have to earn it.

That leaves Hadley, Grigg, Bentick, Armfield, Anderson, Jackson, Hartlett, A.O'hAilpin fighting over five spots.

So here's my preference:

B Mark Jamison, Bret Thornton, Richard Hadley
HB Ryan Houlihan, Jarrad Waite, Heath Scotland
C Andrew Walker, Andrew Carrazzo, Kade Simpson
HF Bryce Gibbs, Setanta O'hAilpin, Marc Murphy
F Eddie Betts, Brendan Fevola, Brad Fisher
R Cameron Cloke, Chris Judd, Nick Stevens
Int: Ryan Jackson, Aisake O'hAilpin, Adam Bentick, Shaun Grigg, NAB Cup: Adam Hartlett, Dennis Armfield

FB Jamison S O'hAilpin Anderson
HB Thornton Waite Hadley
C Simpson Stevens Walker
HF Gibbs Hartlett Houlihan
FF Betts Fevola Fisher
R A O'hAilpin Judd Murphy

IC Cloke Jackson Scotland Carrazzo

Ando's BP spot could easily be taken by Bower, Armfield, Carrots or Hadley

I never want to see Houli in the back half again (unless he is chasing his direct opponent) but in the forward line he will cause some headaches for opposing teams

Likewise, I want to get Scotland out of the back half as, even though he has improved, he is not accountable enough.

I would like AdamH to get first chance at CHF, this would keep Waite in the backline. If Adam does not make it then I would use Cloke as he is strong enough.

In the ruck I imagine Aisake & Cloke could at various times be replaced by Hampson & Kreuzer.

There is lots of midfield rotation available and Griggs, Blackwell and Bentick could easily be included in the mix.

I like the idea of Gibbs rotating through the midfield and half-forward as he reminds me of a young James Hird (am I allowed to say that?) with his immaculate skills & balance.

Eddie will need to make the FP his own very quickly as he will have a bit of competition for his spot in the side as well.

ABOUT BLOODY TIME

Very true. A spot in our 22 is suddenly pretty hard to come by.

Apparantly not for some. 8)

How people can have Carrotts on the bench amazes me. He's a GUN!

Prediction:

Aisake will rule the blue skies for the Blues in 2008....swapping with the younger Hampson and lesser with Kreuzer.

Kreuzer I expect will play FP with cameos at CHF.

I don't know that Cloke will offer more other than experience over these 3 much taller, athletic ruckmen.

Effes, I noticed a few people have either Thornton (192 cm) or Bower (193cm) playing on the small forward.

I'm not confident in that match up, unless it's a taller opponent.

Thornton played on Hawks' Williams a couple of time and did OK when the ball was passed a bit too high for Williams, but Williams was still too quick on the turn for the big fella; we have to make sure we have the quick turning FP's covered, this is where Medhurst and Farmer have hurt us in the past.
