Just reading an article on the Age website, anyone finds it hypocritical that the inquiry in to West Coast's "actions" investigated by the judge will conclude AFTER the draft (which could possibly see them lose NEXT Year's picks) when they have the best picks this year whilst the AFL made sure when we lost ours that the inquiry was completed before the draft even if they had to sit right through for 8 hours.

Surprise surprise we had good picks then too. Flower bullshit, so if West Coast are found guilty they lose next year's picks (which could be any) and keep pick 3 but not for us, no we lost 1 + 2

Demetrispew, Evans, Samuel and Jackson - were manic and vindictive to the extreme to screw us.

Weird how they convened a meeting to deal with Ben Cousins - but could not at the same time discuss West Coast's flagrant breaches of their responsibilities to keep their house in order.

I think that even if we had of left Elliott's Committee in place and tried to delay the AFL Commissions Meeting by Court Injunction or some such then Demetrispew would have held over the Draft until he could screw us - such was the AFL's mania to flower us.

One of the few...

Most of the regular posters here, were on TBV

I had fallen asleep by the computer and was woken by a txt and then a call from a poster in the early hours of the morning. It took me a couple of days to calm down.

Collo was tricked by his mates. The penalty was vindictive and disproportionate. One word for Ron Evans - karma...

I was on, at work - TBV, cursing the Spew and feeling the pain with what was then a record number of people on the forum. One thing is for sure, I never thought that the repercussions would involve a couple of wooden spoons and 5 years of anguish. If you can remember back then, then you'd understand why we were so stoked when Pagan came on board, why finalizing the negotiations on Kouta's contract back then was what we'd considered 'good news', why some vitriol and angst is kept between us and the AFL. Why the rivalries between us and other Victorian teams has deepened, with them having stuck the boot in alongside the media.

Now we have a stable board, a terrific president, a positive financial outlook, a strong member base (we always did, unlike some fairweather supporters of other teams in the past), and a core group of players capable of taking us to flag number 17.

And to top that, arguably the best player in the entire league has joined our club.

Every victory from here on in is going to be so, so, so sweet.

Every single victory from here on in :-D

Since 2002, a fair bit of good fortune has also come our way. I would take Simmo and Fish over Goddard and Wells every day. Getting Stevens in PSD was a lottery; Pratt coming on board; poaching of Swan; landing Judd. We could have become the new St. Kilda caught in an eternal circle of incompetence and disappointment.

Not sure what he is using for money - but I figure if he screwed every AFL punter when they had to buy his overpriced crap - I reckon he has to bend over and cop a red hot poker up the arse every 5 minutes or so.

Jeez is Hell really like that? Sounds like a combination of London and Amsterdam.....

Exactly, after 20 odd posts someone brings this up. Ian collins is the one who should be held most accountable for our downfall from thereon in.

I wasn't online back then.

I remember thinking that the penalties would kill us off. I'm not ashamed to say tears were shed.

I didn't realise then how close I was.

The next premiership will be the sweetest of all. That first bup bedup beduh after the final siren will be deafening.

Same with me.

Luckily Goddard, Wells and Kane Tenace/Kepler Bradley haven't turned out all that well.

I'm also glad that neither Essendon* or Collingwood have won a flag during this period.

When the judge (Ron Evans), jury (Graeme Samuel) and executioner (Demetrispew), prosecution (Ken Wood) have the collective morals and ethics of Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Benito Mussolini - you would be better off lying.

The Pratt/Mokbel comparison was pretty tame in comparison to some of that.

I was in a bar in Southern Thailand.

I found I could get access to the internet

I logged on and read it twice. I didn't believe it.

I went to different sites, and sure enough I read it right.

"We have been sentenced by a demon" was my first thought.
"How can this be allowed to happen?"
"Why, Why, Why?
"Bottom of the ladder, no draft picks, $1M fine...wwhat are they thinking; they're trying to kill off our hope and our club"

I walked out with my jaw hanging down to my knees. I was in a state of disbelief.

Then anger set in....and since that day I have been so determined to convert all fence sitting Carlton suppporters and others to jump on for the fight of our lives.

I knew we wouldn't take it lying down; there's too many of us...and I proceeded to have another very good night.

Today we get Kreuzer, yesterday, Judd, before that...Gibbs, Murphy, Walker, Setanta, Aisake, Stevens...and we were lucky to have Waite and success with the Simmo and Fish picks...then there's Bettsy in the PSD, and rookies turn out to be allright, and so on....I'm enjoying the ride towards the 17th flag.

...the nightmare is over. Now the hard word begins.

50,000 members and finals... here we come.

Is it just me, or does that pic look like the guys are meant to look back at the camera - but Judd saw something bright and shiny on the ground off to the side??

Stayed up and listened to 3aw on the hour for breaking news....was outraged by the AFL. :x  :x

So much so, I went to the club the next morning to pick myself up a membership application and low and behold a media frenzy was there. One reporter managed to convince me to get interviewed to provide a supporters perspective on the penalties, so I agreed and suddenly had about 20 cameras in my face and was on all news channels that evening, and the in the papers the next day!!!!

This was not my idea of getting famous for a few seconds - particularly in those circumstances.

That was about the time that I started to be online, I think that was the event that actually led me to find TBV and CSC and then start hanging out at TBV.

I didn't think that the penalties would kill us (I was more naive about our ture position back then), but 1 remember thinking that it would take 5 - 10 years to come back from it. Unfortunately those thoughts were also truer than i'd imagined.
