I was thinking about ways to promote the blues and capture the imagination of many fans....

Something different and truely unique that no club has done, maybe even internationaly.

The idea is related to when we win games of footy and ways of promoting these wins.

The Idea is a Giant Carlton monogram for all to see...........In the sky!

Just like the batman spotlight seen in the shows/movies.

I don't know what running costs would be worth, or if it goes against green house emmisions, and our going green.

Just thought it would be good to promote Carlton wins in some unique ways.

Any ideas?

I like your idea FF. But if it could be done, we would only be able to do it for the night matches. Good idea though. I reckon it would look cool (A Carlton sign at night like the batman sign)... 8)

There's no reason why we couldn't do it at night after a day game.

You could go out for the night and have a nice little reminder that today the CFC won in battle...No matter where (state) they played.

Wouldn't be any worries about greenhouse gases, just need a few TCers to point their backsides skywards. Should supply enough sunlight to light up a CFC monogram in the sky. 8)

If I did that there'd be 99% chance of some form of emission.

That kind of thing may be able to be done with laser more effectively than spotlight. And that way, the monogram could change/morph into different things, including putting up the membership phone number....

I'd vote for the big CFC in the sky ... can we have one in each city?!

Great idea FF

Add the sponsors name on the bottom...value add...extra exposure...extra dollars...paid for by the sponsor.

I wouldn't have their logo displayed with the beautiful CFC emblem though. One emblem and one word is enough. Any extra wording would be

Carlton won!

Laser is the way to go.

The State govt would love the revenue too.

Potential issues with Air Traffic, passing aeroplanes?

Awesome idea though.

Could potentially see youngsters pointing out the sign in the sky, the beacon of hope dragging young Pies and Bombers supporters from the clutches of those wretched teams.

That's where i see it's most potential. Don't get me wrong it's fun for adults too, but kids would go bannanas i reckon.

With the air traffic problem i wonder if there are certain areas of the sky that are no fly zones??

If so one of these zones could be ideal i guess.

Best of all it would piss of opposition supporters.

Dumbest idea yet.

Other people have tried it, and it ceates an outrage because no-one owns the sky, it makes life impossible for astonomers and is poluting by wasting energy.

Here is an example:
http://www.ags.dk/as/sky.htm

In the city of Sonderborg, Denmark, a local high tech company applied a computer controlled long range searchlight beam in short periods, without any public warning.

As a result, the local newspaper gave strange eye witness reports: People claimed to have seen a real UFO!

The searchlight was put on all night long and gave the owner what he wanted, public attention. "Before this action, nobody knew our company. Now everyone knows who and where we are..." The beam was on for fifty nights before actions were made to stop it: Do protests help? Does it help to fight? The answer is YES !

Several associations and private people protested, and the green-minded city of Sonderborg in 1995 put a local ban on this kind of commercials as one of the first towns in Denmark. Several companies tried to evade the city ban protesting against the local ban. A local Disco mounted a new projector in 1996, and the combined searchlights were able to draw a UFO symbol on the sky.

After 3 days it was stopped by the authorities after several citizen protests.

I reckon every time we win we should abduct a street walker and carve the cfc into her stomach, and then write JUDD in blood on a nearby wall.

Lasers are faaaaaaaar too inefficient for a club going green. They consume far more electricity than any light, and are incredibly expensive to produce at that size. In fact, I'm unaware of a laser (I've been out of th club/rave scene for years now!) that would be powerful enough to projetct in the sky, a building definitely, but the sky???
