Don't get too scared by the heading although I wonder how much panic that caused.

I am doing an article on Carlton for Footytalk and came across and interesting snippet.

I was just going through the "Bible" and this may have been mentioned before in another thread but it doesn't appear to be.

Anyway, I digress.

We drafted a kid by the name of Ben Judd at number 67 of the 1989 National Draft from Sturt.

Does anyone know what happened to him and why he played NO games (apart from presumably being a hack?)

Any info on him would be great.

I'll take that to mean that you are clueless and have no idea then shall I?

I'm not sure, but I think he did his knee early in training and didn't come up afterwards. I remember the guy, but that is about it.

Cheers Beowulf
Is that a LOTR reference by the way, or a reference to the new movie?

Regardless, I don't even remember him so appreciate the feedback.

this may help ... but I found this more helpful ...

So I did some more checking .. apparently he turned up at the Dees around 1992 .. but he appears to still be highly rated at Sturt as there is a "Ben Judd/Brett Lienert Shield for Under 17’s" The only other thing I found was the mention of his being picked in 89 at [Product Name] Oval ...

Sorry dude

Appreciate the help p(12).. Have shot off an email to Sturt asking for any more information on him. I am thinking that if he has a shield named after him, he may have passed away. (perhaps in the Bali bombing??)

Anyway, I will let you know via PM rather than waste time doing it in the forum

I've given him a Blueseum page of his own now - any information you can find would be of interest. There is a new section on the site called 'other Players' which just has info on those that never played. It has some permanent reserves players, Mr.Pratt himself, and some of the draftees over the past 10 years where we've had good information and a page was warranted.

It doesn't look like he ever had a guernsey in the 'Squad Locker Room' which suggests Judd (B) never came over for a game.

That's a good page which mentions all the Sturt departures onf 1997.
As he was drafted in 1989 and began his career with Sturt in 1990, I'd suggest he didn't come over as well but am following it up with the Sturt Footy Club.
Will be in touch when I know more and thanks to those who had some valuable input here.

Cheers.

Chyna
