Carlton Vs Sydney in Dublin in 2009

Great idea but I have to wonder if Carlton would be welcome over in Ireland right now...

Why wouldn't they be?

Cause we nick their players? Or is it because of the Fevola thing......

The Fevola thing would be forgotten about. I love that about the irish. You can go out to a pub, get pissed, fight some dude, and then end up best mates a few months later.

It's all good Craic......... am i right Beanno?

They are not "ripping off fans".

This is aimed at the corporate sponsors, and includes Business Class Airfares, 5 star accommodation, meals and an overnight safari.

Sounds like a great offer for those lucky enough to be in a position to take it up.

True that. $12,000 is still an insanely exorbitant price, however. Though I guess if you've got the cash...

The flight will be via Kuala Lumpur (if the pictures are any guide) and Malaysian Airlines are good.

Could the club come up with an economy class air fare package? Or a land-part only? Or are they only catering for the corporate clientele?

Forget the trip guys - just pay more money into the memberships and merchandise.

I love CFC; but could think of a better way to spend $12000 toward an OS trip than this.

$12,000.
That's MASSIVE.
Is that the MASSIVE announcement we've been waiting for?
Mods please transfer this to the MASSIVE thread if that's the case.

The wife and I have just spent 5 days in Thailand and been on an elephant safari (a short one) for about a quarter of the price. (Economy class of course)
It didn't include a hand job but.

This will be a great trip for those who can do it. There are ways, however, to go and see the game for a lot less if that's what you want.

No I'm not, I was just offering an alternative as people were saying there'd be cheaper ways of doing it. Considering it's my field I was putting my two-bob in...

Singapore hose all over Malaysia Airlines, even though I prefer booking Malaysia due to our relationship with their offices here in Oz. There business class is not anywhere near as good as Singapore's.

are economy seats bigger on international flights than say on a qantas domestic flight?

im more concerned about the gaps between the seats - im tall and cant imagine flying more than 5 hours crammed in a seat

as you can tell ive never been overseas and why i so easily am attracted to business class

Thai Airways economy seats are further apart than QANTAS and the food and service is better. They and some others, also have a class called 'Premium Economy' where you pay a bit more for a business class seat but don't get the business class menu . You can fly Melb to London with them with a stopover in Bangkok. QANTAS economy is cattle class and if I could afford it I would never fly with them in economy but they own the Pacific route and can do as they please.
I don't agree with the 'business or nothing' statement in my own case. If not traveling business meant I could never travel, I would hate it. The world is full of people who would have loved to travel but think you have to pay the earth for fares and accommodation. I'm the opposite.
This trip to SA will be a fantastic trip for those who can do it and I would love to but can't afford it. I could, however, afford to go economy and stay at a cheaper hotel. So can some of you if that's what you want.
I reckon the Ireland idea is fantastic, by the way. I played rugby in Ireland several light years ago and had a ball. It is such a fantastic place and the hurling is something else to see, live.

We travelled many times in Economy; but that last Qantas trip turned us off for future trips; although we made it our business to check in early to get seats at the back of the aircraft where the seats are in (or were) in twos instead of threes.

Luckily; we can now afford to fly Business Class in that we think the extra cost is outweighed by the extra comfort and room.

Good on you for being able to do it in comfort now. Wish I could.

Yeah....I meant to mention that we were in a "three" from Australia to London via Changi I think....and our fellow traveller was a HUGE man and that made it a bit of a nightmare.

So....it was at Heathrow on return that we checked in early to get the old "ex smoking" seats up the back; and I recall people queueing for the toilet after the movie saying to each other "Oh look at them !....only two seats !"........

This is an excellent promotion, and doubtless the club is making a good profit, as it should do. Given the dates = six nights five star accomodation, and the airfares are business class, I would've been surprised if the cost was much less, considering how those attending will be 'up close and personal' with the players and staff.

Corporations will use this as an incentive for staff or similar activity, so I think the club's done well.

Isn't it about 4 times as expensive? On long flights like those that's a hell of a lot of moola.
