Was disappointed when we announced he had been hired. Never been a McCartney fan. Typically i'm not suprised with his about face but am happy he won't be in the role.

Tyrant mentioned Chris Grant. I reckon he'd be good.

Didn't someone hear the rumour around two months ago that Ratten was interested in Luke Darcy?

who is our ruck coach now? is it dempsey?

if it is, he hasn't played for a hundred years, Luke Darcy would be great for Aisake, Hammo and Kreuzer

was me who heard it, and he was approached, he said no. I hear SEN making a play for Darcy to be part of a new afternoon time slot along with Michael Christian.... stay tuned for that one, its about time they get rid of the Ox but i do hope they keep Francess Leach.... respect

I would've thought that Darcy would be drowning in offers from Channel 7 and 10 at the minute. he was fantastic as a TV commentator not so long ago while he was injuried.

Probably more intelligent than Ox - but a knob and a Carlton hater  , but would love him in to be in the role now as it will get on his goat reporting on Carlton's rise up the ladder.

RECENTLY retired stars Mark Ricciuto of the Crows and former Bulldog Luke Darcy have accepted coaching roles with the national AIS-AFL Academy...

I'm TOTALLY the opposite.

The Ox is the best thing on SEN. Love listening to him and he's just easy to chat too.

Francis bores the crap out of me. But i'll give it to him that he knows he football, QUITE well.

The saturday morning slot of Mark Allen and his mate (name eludes me at the moment, Ex Geelong player) is quite good too.

Someone who has a friend high up in a rival AFL club told me over the weekend is that their assessment of McCartney wasnt very high.

I wouldnt be surprised if Carlton re-considered and let jason announce it as his decision

Sunday Age (I think) said it believed McC WAS appointed to the Blues for 48 hrs before "a change of heart..." or some such words...

A bit more to this than meets the eye, but who cares....if he wasn't meant to be there, he wasn't meant to be and everyone goes off happy rather than some horrible split down the track.

I too enjoy listening to Mark Allen and Liam Pickering

Sorry if I've missed something - but did we replace McCartney? Did Lappin take up the position that was vacated by McCartney, or was that a seperate position?

I may have lost track of our coaching panel for '08, but am I right in saying it's:
Ratten - head coach
Crosisca - full time assistant
Riley - full time assistant
Montgomery - full time assistant
Bradley - part time assistant
McKee - part time assistant (ruck)
Teague - captain-coach VFL/development (full time?)
Lappin - VFL player/development (part time?)

That makes it:
Out - Pagan, Libba, Mitchell, Daniher, Dempsey
In - Riley, Montgomery, Teague, Lappin, McKee

Can anyone confirm I have that correct? If so, does anyone else think our coaching panel looks a little inexperienced in terms of actual coaching...?

This may well be a calculated move by Swann to give us a younger (and maybe cheaper?) coaching panel to go with our young playing list, but I would have been a lot happier if we could have landed Sumich instead of, say, Montgomery. I know Riley and Crosisca have been around AFL coaching for awhile, and I have nothing against Montgomery (obviously I hope he does a great job), but I'm surprised they didn't put another head in there with Rats that has AFL experience as an assistant coach (eg. Sumich, Longmire, SOS, or even Wayne Brittan?), and/or a proven development coach from another club (eg. Alan Richardson) to oversee Teague/Lappin.

What do other people think?
