So who was there today to see Shields hit the park. I'm told he is about 184cm and solid as a rock.

Some said the other day about being "Hard as a cats head" and apparently that sums him up. I asked what they saw in him to get him over and was told......Aggression, Aggression, Athleticism and Aggression. Also apparently he has some good footy skills as well :-)

I'm told when he spoke on his own the guys could understand him but when he was speaking with the O'hAilpins no-one had a clue what they were all saying

That last bit is very funny Caz. Thanks for these great updates.

Yep seem to remember a skinny bloke called David Rhys Jones. He had an aggressive streak (sarcastically understated) and he went OK, at least whislt he was busting heads anyway!!

Why is Chris Connolly crawling after him?

Age reports this morning that another Irishman is set to train with us - the one that left Brisbane due to homesickness a couple of years ago, Brendan someone or other.

This is actually Blue Sombrero on Blue Beatle's computer...

His legs are not skinny at all. He looks to have a strong lower body, which is good for maintaining your balance at ground level. (see Gary Ablett jr)
How has he been goin at training? Is he a likely-looking prospect?

Int. rookie listed or senior listed?

(Assuming he's not just here for a holiday...)

By all accounts he is not here for a holiday. He is full on and hoping to offered a spot somewhere by the club.

Apparently Shields and Quigley are old 'sparing partners' according to a story I heard today.

The two lads play on different teams and early on in the year the lads came to blows and both got suspended for a few weeks

Get a load of this report of the game I found on the net by writer
Gavin Cummiskey

“It’s for the history books, really. Too much was made of it from your own comrades in the press. They hyped it up completely. Then comments by people who weren’t even there saw it spiral out of control.”

Seán Dempsey was there. So were the TG4 cameras. July 31st, 2004 was the date the Laois minors drew with Cork in a game forever tarnished by the violence after the full-time whistle.

A prolonged melee eventually resulted in 124 weeks of suspensions being handed down by the old GAA disciplinary arm, the GAC.

Two of Cork’s expected starters for Saturday’s under-21 All-Ireland football final in Thurles, Michael Shields and captain Andrew O’Sullivan, were amongst the suspended, along with current senior Laois midfielder Brendan Quigley and then goalkeeper Eoin Culliton. Cork selector Keith Ricken received 48 weeks.

At least they won't take a backwards step. :-)

Regards Cazzesman
