My father in-law....mad Saints fan..says KOOPERPIDIES isn't that good.
People that fail to see beyond their own club really piss me off.

As i said to him....Kouta was the best playeer in the league in 99/2000....however he can only remember the last couple of years!

Still thinks Stewart and Baldock are the best 2 players ever.

Old timers must be setting in :)

Surprise suprise.
Thank god all the selfish boys (kouta, whitnall, campo) are now gone and we can now support players that are prepared to play for the team.

While the rest of the article is sensationalise HUN garbage, this is pretty spot on:

HUN: Time for Blues to stand up

Jon Ralph wrote:
Koutoufides whacked Pagan for his game plan and motivational tactics.

Not yet apparent from Koutoufides memoirs are his opinion on Lance Whitnall's laziness, Brendan Fevola's inconsistency, Cain Ackland's inability to provide a contest and a myriad of other on-field problems.

Pagan, for all his failings, was made to be the scapegoat for some terrible performances from his players.

Kouta interviewed on 3AW... first interview since the revelations

- Rohan Conolly said commetns were refreshing
- Said it wasnt easy to be critical, and didnt look forward to saying some of the stuff, but it was his true feelings and throughts on what happened over hhis career
- Said he DID go to Den Den 'on a number of occasions' to talk about changing tactics at training and match day tactics, but of course Pagan didnt take any advice on board - Said Pagan's game plan was great in the 90s, but was past it by the time he got to Carlton. Den Den found it hard to move with the times, and disrespected a lot of senior players.
- Said players always tried their best during games, but at the end of the day, they wre directed by the coach so had to stick to game plan or be blasted.
- If his book has offended people by being honest then he said hes sorry, but thats what he believes and his true and honest opinion on events. He stands by what he says in his book.
- Just wanted people to know what it was like in the 'inner sanctum' of Carlton over the 'hard times' as well as the good times.. People that are criticising him about what he has writtne arent in a real position to comment because they were nt there to know exactly what happened.

Re. Drugs in Football:
- Said there are certainly issues re. Drugs in Football.. Doesnt socialise much with players at clubs these days so doesnt see muc hof it happening, but certainly hears whispers around the place. As far as he knows, no drug issues at Carlton.

Re: His father's death:
- Football didnt matter anymore during and after fathers illness... thought about giving it away.. couldnt focus on football at the time. People at the club helped him through it.

Re: Lance
- Said Lance maybe couldnt ve done a bit more to get himeslf right over his career.... Hopes he gets picked up by another club.

Kouta is blaming one man for our performances.
Not a collective of things..including himself.. Lance.. Fev..Stevens.. Elliot... Sticks etc...

Bit rich!!... pardon the pun...

I agree with Kouta 100%, anyone who watched the games live could see the players had no direction.

Pagan is the worst thing that has ever happened to this club. How after all this he still has his backers I have no idea??? If they like they can follow him back to North where they can all bitch about draft picks, leadership etc. while the rest of us watch and support our rise back up the ladder.

I can't believe this thread either.......years and years of Pagan bitching and hating has now turned into Kouta hating and Pagan's innocent of all charges !!!!

If I hadn't read this thread; I'd never have believed it !

So Pagan was on the field providing on-field leadership? Where were the guys who are paid to provide that on the field, and what were they doing? Why weren't they leading?

I'm not a Pagan fan (any more), but your hatred of him makes you blind to the selfish way some players have been on-field for the last couple of years.

Way to simplify things...

No-one is saying Pagan's not to blame, it's more that they are saying that some players should go into the room of mirrors and take a bloody long hard look at themselves and their own behaviour over the last few years before tipping a bucket of shit on others.

Kouta has been a legendary Idol at Carlton and one of the all time greats of the Club.

Pagan has coached the Club through it's most unsuccessful and at times embarrassing periods of Carlton's proud History.

If we can have an opinion and put it in writing.....who are we to say that Kouta can't do the same?

More power to him.

Supporters have been fed a lot of crap over the past 5 years and most of it has been blamed on the draft picks

just look and the current situation

Campo often referred to a cancereale around here is currently employed as and assistant at the scum - hardly the role model to help develop kids according to some - but the second most successful club in the AFL sees fit to employ him ????

Same goes for Maaty Allan employed by Bendigo bombers

Adrian Hickmont - Walked out of Carlton employed by Scum

Andy Mackay - didn't want to play on is now part of the match review commitee

Brett Ratten - now coach of Carlton

Barry mitchel - snapped up by Box Hill

I 'll bet theres more that I cant think of - but all these players had a difference of opinion with Pagan - some were accused of being selfish and money hunger even lazy and bad role models. Yet their all currently gainfully employed and the bloke that didn't want them is now out of a job

speaks for itself really

Pagan worst coach ever and the sooner we realise this and move on the better

Warby apparently Kouta isn't as qualified as internet posters and sports journalists to have an opinion on his coach of the last five years.

Not what im saying... i want Koutas honest opinion on Stevens LAnce Himself Campo etc.. and how did they put the club first to help get it out of the mess...

What Kouta is saying is everything is Pagans fault. he loved Elliot.. (money would be a safe bet why).. did he question why Elliot brought Pagan to the cub?
Did he question why we salary capped breached... (his contract is a clue)
Did he question the work ethic and commitment of his co senior players??

Thats what were saying...

We all new Pagan was wrong... but so were alot of other things including Kouta and his mates efforts.

Isnt he embarassed with the effort they put in as we got hamered week in week out??

He sould be....!!!.. he was PAID ALOT of money not to be insipid.. and so was Campo and Lance...

We'll have to agree to disagree Synbad. Let me just say though the Lions lost respect for their coach in 98 and they finished dead last despite playing finals with the same group the 3 years prior. In 99 with a new coach they finished 3rd. You could say their leadership group (Voss, Lappin, Lynch etc.) were poor leaders or you can acknowledge that they hated their coach.

Oh so Lance was going to be the next Voss was he???

Look.... the cub was off the rails in every aspect...
On field...

Off field...

Its simplistic to believe that Carlton problems were coach alone.

We had the biggest bunch soft cock senior players in the league..

Denis should have given Lance and Kouta the Big A earlier then sacked himself...
