I was down at PP today picking up 'The Blue Boys' book for my grandfathers birthday. While I was there someone came into the shop and showed the girls at the shop the new running shorts. They had Visy on them as a sponsor.

I haven't heard anything about this, has anyone else?

Well it IS Pratt's company, so a partnership of sorts wouldn't be out of the question. But personally, with all the crap that's been going on, I would hope we don't go with it. I'm getting sick of my club being criticised as 'crooked' (I know some revel in the hatred) and would rather not have references to a company that has just been fined millions for shonky business practices on our uniform for all to see. It would be like a red cape to a bull for all the anti-Carlton fraternity and we'd never hear the end of it.

I heard that Melbourne were also having their shorts sponsored by Visy. I'm not sure if the two clubs have worked out the pricing though?

In 3 months time, the Visy story will be old news.

I think we're linked to Visy regardless of whether their logo appears on our shorts or not.

I know, but for me seeing the boys out on the field wearing it will be a constant reminder of something I'd rather forget.

As an aside, I heard from a friend that half of the Visy executives have Carlton FC duties and responsibilities. Would be funny if they were Bummer or Macpie fans haveing to develop business for the Blues. maybe Pratt is smart enough not to hire their kind though

There's a visy board 2 minutes from my place. Pratt drops by in the helicopter regularly.

there's a little article in today's HUN on page 5 about visy. here's the first paragraph:

Quote:
VISY boss Harry Debney has quit and taken full responsibility for the company's role in a price-fixing cartel aimed at controlling the $2 billion cardboard box sector.

sounds to me like dick is doing his best to hang onto the presidency.

I doubt Dick would force his own man to be the scapegoat for his own gain, and if he did, I doubt that said bloke would agree to it.

I wouldn't mind being reminded that our president is Dick Pratt, and of everything he has done for our club.

And i don't mind us reminding everybody else who our Prez is...

If you ever drive past Laverton on the Freeway to Geelong you will see on your right a warehouse with a Visy sign one end and Amcor the other. No wonder they fixed the prices, they all come from the same warehouse.
