Over the next 24 hours or so the Blueseum should register its 100,000th view of the Home Page. I know other sites have very big traffic and this may look small in comparison, but the Blueseum has come a long way and by hitting 100,000 we are demonstrating real relevance - and some impressive growth rates in recent months.

Make sure to have a shandy or two to recognise the milestone!

congratulations!
it's a bloody great site, i only discovered it recently and spend ages in there.

It was fantastic to see a real-world Blueseum get a mention in the club's latest member survey as well. 8)

the Blueseum is brilliant, so much there to soak up.

for example,

Wayne Harmes
Geoff Southby
Mark Maclure
Robbert Klomp
Ken Sheldon
Bruce Doull
Wayne Johnston
Alex Jesaulenko
Rod Austin

is quite a list.

they finished 2nd -10th in the 1979 B&F

1st was Mike Fitzpatrick.

some big names there - in a premiership year

a big year from the big man

That is what you call a very solid top 10 in a B&F.

sideshow bob, you are more than welcome to register and help out, still plenty of gaps that need to be filled in on the site. If you have any old photos, footy records anything really they can all be used to add to the Blueseum.

Glad you are enjoying it.

Was thinking that maybe it would be good to add a feedback feature where people can put in their comments and suggestions for the site and they can be posted up on a page?

isn't it ever? you'd be reasonably happy to finish in front of them i reckon!

hey look i'd love to help, but i don't have any stuff like that... only the memories of a kid growing up in WA a million miles from Melbourne on a Saturday arvo.

i can tell you all about Subi though :)

i reckon the feedback idea is good.

it's a massive site - i'm lovin' it

Yeah....saw Ralphy in his first game....he kicked 9.....was a great kick for goal from a distance; but wasn't consistent and never lived up to that first game.

Summer Lovin'
Image

The Blueseum needs some summer lovin' (yeah I know it is not summer yet).

We really need some contributions from more of the Carlton flock and the off season is as good a time as any to become a Blueseum contributor.

Things are a bit quiet in the Blueseum salt mines at the moment. Get out those scrapbooks, exercise your brain, unleash your creativity, make a contribution to the club!

No lovin' coming! Going to be a lonely old summer!

'BlueDawn' of BigFooty has contacted the Blueseum to highlight that the site is good if you know what you are looking for, but it is difficult if you only have partial memories of a game and need to find it.

For example, if you wanted a close win over the West Coast in the early 1990's you would have to trawl through the 'Seasons' page for years until you found it.

In working through the comment with him / her one idea came up that the 'Description' box of each game be updated to include the opponent margin and extremely brief summary ie "Franchina annihilates Winmar" or "Cook kicks 6". This brief comment would come up if you put your mouse over the game.

How do users feel about this? Would it assist? Is there a better way?

If this is the only way, how many volunteers do we have to redo (add a comment) to 2200 or so games?

Thanks Bob. I think if we get 10-11 volunteers doing 10 years each it would only take 2-3 hours in total, if that.

I've had a go at a few formats using 2007. There is a limitation to the number of characters that can be used, which will limit additional commentary (unless this can be increased?), but if we just add the opponent / win-loss / margin and ground hopefully users will be able to find what they are looking for.

Any views?

looks good. round 16! ouch

is the character limit imposed by the forum software?

i've used titles on links before like this
Code:
link name

and never had any problem. Firefox seems to set a limit (about 80 characters), Safari doesn't seem to, nor does IE

I don't know the exact character limits you are talking about but more than likely it would be a precaution/security issue.

If anyone has had trouble logging in try checking the 'remember me' box below the login form next time you try.

If this does not work please contact me via PM here or via the Blueseum through admin at blueseum dor org.

So are we all in agreement that this format is OK?

Round 1, 2007:

'Carlton defeated Richmond by 17 points - MCG'

If not, please advise what you would like to see and J, can you advise if we can get some extra characters in this. For eg, in Round 3 it would be good to say:

'Carlton defeated Essendon* by 3 points after record comeback - MCG'

Sideshow, once we get this settled we'll take any assistance we can get. We seem to have lost some of our posters so if you get the time, perhaps start in the 1970's and work upwards? I'll work back from 2007?

I think that's great sideshow - really good stuff. You seem to have been able to add more detail, something that can only help - Jarusa, have you changed this around?

steve...I'm a born optimist and I just took your line as volunteering to do the 1980's!
