Pagan on SEN...

- Was speaking at a corporate breakfast, and when he finished up he had 18 messages on his phone
- Found a copy of the paper and ... "Interesting to say the least"
- Hasn't been critical of anyone he's coached and won't start now
- Club said he had to get rid of all these old players
- New Corey wouldn't have painted a good picture of him
- Carlton in a good position and well placed to go forward
- Was probably one of Anthony's best supporters
- Doesn't think he was archaic or not supportive
- 3 of top 4 sides this year were good with the long kicking
- Was hard but fair, was very positive at Carlton, can't believe some of the criticisms
- Will take responsibility and not going to use excuses, will move on, AFL is a tough caper
- He was aware that Kouta and the other players called the meeting
- Didn't confirm or deny the comments in regards to Kouta's 200th game
- Club went through terrible financial times, couldn't be critical of the players
- Didn't talk to Kouta about the meeting he had with the board, he knew that they knew he knew
- Kouta didn't speak to him directly in regards to the points raised with the board
- Winning pre-season cups was good financially
- Kouta entitled to his opinion, one of Carlton's greats, doesn't do any good to get involved in a public slanging match
- Good that Carlton is looking good and he hopes the club does fare well
- Good kids, Stevens return and Judd's recruitment, will have a positive domino effect on our kids
- Future in football ... one foot in front of the other, only need one person to push your barrow, been around the block a few times, blah, blah, blah :Paganisms:
- Did Carlton tank? I don't think they could, players are playing for their careers. Not a chance.

KB asked if Carlton tanked - Pagan emphatically said no way - players playing for their careers and some were delisted - just a young team.

In one sentence Pagan said - Que sera sera, put one foot in front of the other and another cliche that I forget.

IMO I don't think you had that much respect for him in the first place if it all ends when he speaks the truth....the TRUTH...that's all; that's no crime and certainly no big deal.

get it right: Kouta's a Carlton man and Pagan isn't. You work out who you should respect more.

I respect him as an awesome footballer for those years but there's still some biterness that stops me having the same adoration as others - and that's disapointing for me.

Just as I thought....some lingering bitterness...why?...because a man who was cut down by serious kness injury couldn't reach the same heights the whole footy community admired and watched in awe? You're in the minority with that thought.

I don't think you think that much of Kouta in the first place to consider your post balanced...there's an obvious underlying bitterness towards the great Cartlon premiership player.

Whether he's a Carlton man or not, it doesn't change the fact that what he's done is wrong.

FYI, I went to the footy just to watch Kouta play - even in his latter years. He should not have been made captain but for an absolute leadership vacuum.

If he's gonna drag Pagan into the mire, I wonder what he'll say about another 10-12 people including his manager and other former coaches and presidents :o .

Would be interesting reading  .

I'm over Pagan, Libba and Kouta for that matter.....time to move on....
This is about selling Kouta's book and good luck to him but I would have taken him more seriously if he had come out in public at the time and said the players had lost confidence in Pagan, maybe the club would have acted sooner.
Sorry to say but Pagans comments about Kouta about retiring if he cant jump anymore had validity.......
I'm just waiting for Sticks book to come out.......

No-bloody wonder the players were confused!

Well done to Kouta, that'll give him some decent sales for his book!

couldnt agree with what you said anymore!

since when is it a crime to speak the truth?!? like you said Kouta is a Carlton man, Pagan isnt... I think Koutas timing is impeccable as well, its very early in the off season, these comments will be forgotten by the time 2008 season begins.

if Elliot had remained president, he would of sacked Pagan after 10 games

Nothing wrong with what Kouta has written. There's a concept known as "freedom of speech" in this country.

People have been laughing at us for years. We have been a basket case for too long. This article is a step in the right direction IMO, and will aide in us getting over the horrible horrible past.

Will Kouta be as brutally honest on whether he/ himself.. Campo..Fev... Lance etc did all they could for the members and the club???
Did they put in?
Could they all look themselves in the mirror and say "I did everything i could and gave everything i had for the Carlton football club"?

No one is bigger than the club, but put a pen in Kouta's hand and he obviously thinks he is. The past is the past and a former captain in Kouta should let sleeping dogs lie and keep his silence. As a club in all ways we've moved on from the Pagan era, but Kouta has to drag us back into it, in the limelight of the football media. Kouta, if you've got something to get off your chest about Pagan, get yourself a pseudonym on Talking Carlton and vent your spleen, while keeping your identity as a former captain of the club secret, rather than doing it in public whilst earning a dollar.

You've really put yourself before the club in this instance Kouta.

Get your hand off your souvalaki :!:

Mate it is a Biography!
I for one, would like to know of all the crap that has happened over the past 5 years even if you don't.
Pagan deserves everything he gets! He killed the football club and that why no players wanted to come to us!

No use in flogging a dead horse

Bad management is bad management it was up to Denis to ensure he got the best out of the group and develop a game that suited the cattle he had - He didn't and he is gone because of it .

Ever worked for an idiot boss Synbad ?????

Could Denis???

He lost me after that insipid address pre our last game at PP. Players struggled to run through the banner after that. He was woeful.

Mick Martyn. The prosecution rests.

Whilst I don't mind someone coming out and saying this about Pagan's ways. i.e. confirming what most thought about him anyway(apart from Carey  ) That is a very, very good point you make Synbad.

A very simplistic view imo, and not very much thought given to the positive effect it may have for the Club.

Yes, probably very simplistic, but in my view the K.I.S.S. system usually works for the best.

I have no problem with the "true story" coming out, but I think timing has a lot to do with how things are perceived.

A couple of years down the track, when players and officials involved have moved on, both in reality and figuratively, would have been better.

What happens if the club has a shiteful year again in '08? Who are they going to blame then?

I would rather this story came out now in the off season, rather than during the season, when it might cause some ripples.

But the reality is, that this will not be distracting to the playing group in any way shape or form had it come out in April or May of 2008.

Kouta wrote his version of what transpired and now Denis has responded.

End. Story.
