No doubt Patrick Smith will take out his softball bat on SEN this morning...

Actually, for Patrick Smith, he wasn't too bad.

No doubt when talkback starts he'll get a bit more lopsided.

Smith likes all journalists want a scandal or a sacking or a saga, they need an agenda and something to write about. He is a joke. With some 100+ journo's who write on footy specifically in Melbourne they are all vultures for a story, look at Dylan Howard.

p.s - i liked the way Smith quickly brushed off KB's suggestion that not many people like Pratt gives away so much of wealth away to charity, arts etc.

I think you will find it will be the other way around as Pratt justs laugh hangs a few pairs of pants back in the closet and gives us the loose change that falls out of the pockets to more than compensate for the piddly revenue from 100 Poker Machines. Which may find their way back to pubs controlled by Bruce Mathieson.

Yeah, well he was only able to give that money away because he was ripping everyone off.

I just love the irony of the VCGR questioning someone's morals.

Whatever happens Dick will be a major backer of the CFC and a sounding board regardless of if he has the title of President or not.
In saying that, I doubt much will come of this.

The gambling commission who steal from poor Australians are going to investigate a guy who employs more middle class & lower class Australians than most, as to his suitability to be president of a football club? This is getting to the stage of a flagrant witch hunt. This is the establishment sticking the boots in because they can not stand his creativity and private wealth

A witch hunt?

This is nothing more than people putting two and two together and coming up with four. Pratt is convicted of a criminal offence therefore according to law it brings his right to hold a gambling license into question. If he can't hold a gambling license he can't sit on the board.

Big deal.

The presidency's a title - nothing more and nothing less. If Pratt were to lose his license (which is still far from established) then he'd simply involve himself in other ways.

Not one I'm going to lose much sleep over especially considering he said at the beginning he only wanted to be president for a couple of years.

This is a better article:

Exactly. He did declare that is tenure would more than likely only be until the end of next year. He has already done a hell of a lot of good and we should be on track now.

My only slight concern is that some of the excitement and momentum surrounding Carlton is due to Pratt being president and the prestige he brings to the club. It will be hard to replace someone with that type of magnetism and charisma.

Regardless, we are on the right path now and the next stage of our resurrection will be on-field

Take a look at this picture:

Other than the slightly negative story about King Dick, almost every story on the front page is a positive one about Carlton.

Finally, the press isn't full of Filth and Scum.

Agree it's not a witch hunt. But Dick's admitted offences are not criminal.

I have no problem with articles like this being written, the VCGR is supposed to take these things seriously. Whether they necessarily get things right is another issue, as they operate in the realm of power and influence in high places.

Of course the academics would be against it, they are opposed to gambling due to its well documented destructive influences on some people.

I have forgiven Pratt. Why can't everyone else just do the same?

If Pratt can't somehow get the license there's always his son. There's nothing to see here. Move on.
