It was a very sad moment when those at the Blueseum were advised that Jim Mooring passed away overnight, aged 90, at the St John of God Hospital in Bendigo.

Jim played over 100 games for the Blues, including the 1945 Premiership, and would have played alot more if not for injuries, particularly after 1945. He was Club B&F in 1942 and our leading goal-kicker in 1944:

What makes the Mooring story a little more personal for mine is the contribution of information and pictures to his Blueseum biography, through a member of his family. In fact his Picture Gallery on site is one of the best on the site and includes many historical and personal moments.

I'd encourage each of you to have a look at the site and learn of the story of Mooring - a Carlton Great and beloved father & grandfather to generations of Carlton fans.

My Dad says he was a top rover, a very good player.

Respects to his family.

Well done Mosley.

The Heavenly Blues are going to be tougher to beat than ever from now on - they have just picked up a top rover.

Thanks, Jim.

You made us proud.

Very sad. Thoughts with the Mooring family.

Not too many left from the 1945 premiership now. :(

I refer to the 1945 team in my signature. What a team! And Jim, you were a part of it. Very sad. Sincerest condolesences to the Mooring family and friends. Sincerest condolesences to all Carlton supporters. We have lost a true champion of our team.

Give the great man a state funeral, or even better, a true Carlton funeral!

The spirit of '45 and all your other successes will always live on.

A fine man, great old Bluebagger and top publican. The Metropolitan to me was always Jimmy Mooring's pub, even years after he'd pulled his pot.

RIP Jim, thanks for your efforts.

And with that, another piece of Carlton history is gone forever. We need to treasure what we have...in all contexts. :(

Vale to a Carlton great.

I think that football is still followed on the other side, and when a human that has passed later awakes to find themselves in the sprirt world, they discover that that they have a new spirit body.

This takes some getting used to as it is different from the physical body, yet it still looks like a human form - only it looks as the physical body appeared when it was in its prime.

So I suggest that there would indeed be a strong Carlton contingent there - and one whcih has just gained a new member..

Sad to hear a Carlton legend died. It's a pity we don't have Video Vision of some of these great players. I wish there was a Time Machine that you could film he playing so the kids and Carlton fans seen him in action.

He looked so well and happy in that recent photo.

Its good that he managed to get to that night with a lot of his old mates.
