That contract gave us Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer and Judd. Worth $2mil in my eyes.

Whilst I didn't necessarily disagree with Pagan staying on as coach at the time, I couldn't understand the rush, as it wasn't as if other clubs were falling over themselves to get at him.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Does anyone know what arrangement the club came to (if any) in relation to paying out the rest of Pagans contract????

History will judge this decision as a watershed moment in the resurgence of a GREAT power, the Carlton Football Club.

Memo to all the other 15 AFL Clubs & Demtrispew and your maggots:

BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID

This is my favourite one.

Now I can't remember how I felt...possibly glad...but why did most think this was such great news at the time?

He'd got us to about 11th off recycled players, then won a preseason cup...I was very happy then, actually...thought we might make the eight. Obviously all this is in hindsight, but why did so few of us have the foresight that showed we had a poor list? Only now do we see an undoubtable rise (if we don't then something is seriously wrong).

That said, I may have been deliriously happy as well at that time, I can't say. Oh well.

Aaaahhhh yessss. March 2005 I remember it well.

That was when the Tigers began being in "The Box Seat".

That seat should be pretty warm and moulded to their arse by now.

It used to be called Retread-itis, but now is called Kingsley-inia. It causes normally sane people to think that a mid-aged retread from another Club can miraculously become the linchpin in your next good team despite the fact that their previous club didn't want them.

Carlton has suffered from Retread-itis and became addicted to the rush it caused when we snatched a few wins that we otherwise wouldn't have.
