Got a good laugh out of Caro's article last Sunday. While acknowleging Carlton's success re Judd and the demise of Lance she couldn't restrain herself from sticking the boot in.
She called the club arrogant and ruthless.
Fine!!
What she seems to conveniently forget , is that her father ran the Richmond Football Club in exactly the same manner.
Ian ''Octa'' Wilson along with Graeme Richmond, formed a very formidable and successful partnership, and were the driving force behind a very formidable Tiger outfit.
Ruthlessness and arrogance were their good points!
I can handle constructive criticism, but hypocrisy shits me.

Is describing the club as arrogant and ruthless a criticism or a compliment?

As Danny said the other day - it is not so much arrogance but "belief".

Coming from her, if it's a compliment, it's a back handed one.

I actually took the article as a back-handed compliment. She knows we are on the way back, and she doesn't like it. She made sure to stick up for Collo... but also noted that his sticking to the 'process' as she called it had got our club nowehere.

In the end the article was as much about the culture of the Carlton Football Club as anything... and the way she wrote made it easy to see that she realised that the way we were managing things meant our arrogance was returning. She didn't like it... but take that as a compliment. Maybe she wishes Richmond could stooge Miller and return to their former greatness too?

The only compliment Carlton will ever get from Caro is a backhanded one... Hating Carlton is in her blood..

Caro can flower off for all I care. She rivals Fatprick as the biggest sideline whinner in the media.

Sunday's article was an accurate description of where our club is culturally at the moment, and I think most would agree that it's a good place to be. Wilson did not condemn our club, but simply gave a reasonable commentary, which was largely complinentary.

What is annoying is the mindless and frequently misogynistic abuse that gets hurled in her direction every time she writes about our club.

Wilson's scathing articles about Richmond over the last few years clearly showed that she isn't anti-Carlton, but is against clubs that behave in a stupid manner. Whilst I don't always agree with what she says, she gets it right far more often than any of the other commentators in the media.

I thought it was a great article.

For the last five years I've listened to most of the people in here bemoaning the fact that we'd lost our "arrogance and ruthlessness".

Caro's the problem now that we've got it back?

Get a grip - it was a very complimentary article.

It was complimentary... according to Caro the ruthlessness was effective in nature, not destructive...

Agree with you both.

She is a very poor journalist who should keep her talents to the gossip columns where they belong.

Although I know Deano gets a hankering every now and again.

Great to see someone able to criticize Wilson for her journalism (warranted or not) without having to resort to the misogynist garbage relating to her appearance that often passes for criticism in this place.

Jolly good show Agro...

The article could well have been written by any number of posters from this website. It was completely factual and didn't reveal anything new.

Aside from your delightful mistype, I think it preferable to her "That's what I've been told" crap she often comes out with.

She's the best AFL journo in my opinion. As others have said, this was a comment piece, and seemed right on the ball.

I think comments on her looks probably say a fair bit about those making the comments ... and I'd far rather read or listen to what Caro has to say than say Tiffany Cherry.

Also note that despite the personal attacks from Sticks and others 12 months ago, she has been very fair in her commentary on CFC.

Well she isn't her dad, she is her own person and whatever her dad did doesn't define her. Second, whether that is even true or not doesn't mean that Carlton is or isn't being arrogant. She is simply stating a fact. You'd have to be biased to think we weren't being arrogant over the last couple of weeks. Frankly I'd prefer the arrogance we were known for in the 70s to 90s were replaced with "confidence". I think Judd is the role model. He is not arrogant, just has enormous self belief. He doesn't have to tell anyone he's good, he just knows he is. That's how I'd like us to be.

"Did you think about kennedy at all over the last few days?" - Judd: "not really". Just stating facts and not being ashamed by them.
