It was a night game against the Dons a few years ago [2003?] when we were pretty much done and dusted and I remember him playing a major role in the second half and had Fletcher running in circles.

We ended up winning by about 3pts or something.

2005 it was mate. I remember nearly choking when i saw him go back to the defensive 50 and stood next to James Hird!...After Lucas and Hird had destroyed us in the first half, Lance went forward and put on a show and we came back and won by 7 or 8 points if im not wrong.

was it a night match? if so this is the same match we're thinking of.

I love lance, its no secret from reading my posts around here that i like the guy and was against Lance bashing. I'm sad to see him go, however i totally understand and quietly agree with the move. Hopefully he can stay at the club and offer something in an off field role as his footy brain is as good, if not better than any other i've ever seen.

Nic

It was a night game Nic as I recall being in a corporate box with Jimbo Wilson and I was bouncing off the walls that night. So much, so that I nearly ripped his [Jim's] head off when he tried sending an sms to someone when we hit the front and I thought he might mozz us by jumping the gun.

Of course when the game was over, I nearly passed out but managed to scream the club song with the box window open and me waving to all the scum supporters.

3. And finally, the Whitnall flap. The what? That free kick for parking under a ball and dropping your head whilst someone takes a screamer over you, but YOU getting pinged whilst most others in the competition get away with it.... will we ever see this free kick again, or is it reserved for you?

So true! Lance is the only person ever pinged for that!

I loved his ability to create space where there was none - brilliant positioning of his body and running to the right spots. He did this time and again throughout his career. He was also a great backman and was often asked to play both ends in a game. We will miss his ability to create a contest. That was his value in the later years. I think that he probably had at least 1 year in him and don't agree with the call. 2007 was a write-off but I thought that he could come back.
