Is Judd good to have in the team.Yes of course

It seems all would say yes, but there is an argument which says we have sped up the process of gaining ultimate glory and we might not have long to wait.

But there may be a slight problem.

Judd is a large piece of the puzzle solved.

A star player who all going well will be the go to man but hey we are talking about the current team Carlton style and there are many gaping holes in this team.

The ruck situation for a start. Now Hampson and Kreuzer(assume he will go number one) wont be ripping sides apart for a couple seasons yet.

Our backline is terrible with little help from our mids when we have to run back.

Hopefully Hartlett can keep the hammies warm and loose.
IMO Anderson could be something we need down back. He is quick good size and can play on small forwards. He also is tough and never takes his eye off the ball. Jamison looks the goods and hopefully Thornton can lift his form next year.

Today Carlton have changed direction with a slight touch of the accelerator in the form of the Juddernaught but in the process stop the development of building a young team from scratch. We have let go a potentially good player in pick 3 and 20 and given away the unfortunate man in all this Josh kennedy , a kid who was plague by injury in his 2 seasons here, but is young and will develop. I was so sad to see this quality kid go back west.

So after all that have we placed all our eggs in the one basket?
Time will tell.
I still like the Geelong model of a team virtually starting from scratch with a few inclusions on the way (Ottens for example)
In the end a flag is all us supporters care about

I hope the powers that be down at Royal Parade know what they are doing.

Yep, kind of echoing my thoughts but the decision is done and dusted so we look forward now.

..everyone likes to look towards geelong and hawthorn as these supposed models of building a team from scratch, that not neccessarily the case however.. ..both teams have a good core of long term, experienced players that have kept their kids together onfield, and have provided guidance and protection.. ..we haven't had that foundation to build off, if anything we're the team that's truely been building up from scratch, and we've brought in the juddler who's young enough still to develope with the team and hopefully improve upon his own game, i believe we've made not only the correct decision, but the only one.. ..we've managed to both fast-track our kids development and also ensure that they wanna stay together for the long run.. ..well done..!!..

Na, it's about supporters wanting to see their team do well. As a father of a player, you no doubt hate the way JK was treated in all this and all Carlton supporters feel bad for the way this has happened - but we also feel bad when the rest of the boys walk off the ground each week with their heads down.

Bragging rights start when we start to win more than just the Who Cares Cup!

But even in our worst period ever in our proud history we won two of them, compared to the "alleged" champion team, St Kilda who won one, and bupkiss. Just like we did.

Yep - it's all about the supporters, and why shouldn't it be?

It's the supporters that make the AFL what it is for the players and the clubs. Without us, there IS no money, no big crowds, no adulation, no public profile, no opportunities for a post-football career, no chance to make a good living playing a game, no chance to pit yourself against the very best, no opportunity to leave your mark on Australian sport.

If the players don't like it, I'm sure they can get a 9-5 job and go play in the ammo's or the VFL. There they'll have mateship, camaraderie and loyalty. But none of the stuff listed above. Obviously, if you're on an AFL list, you are willing to accept that tradeoff.

You can't earn $200,000+ and not expect there to be some downside. Earn good money in business, and you understand it's all about the shareholders. In this instance, the supporters and sponsors are the shareholders.

This may be heresy to most but I don't care about premierships as much as being able to watch my team play well and win most weeks. When the high of a GF win fades away, it's all about gaining enjoyment from going to / watching the footy.

So I am simply looking forward to getting a bit of that enjoyment back.

Totally agree. Winning a premiership is icing on the cake. My hope for 2008 is a competetive team and to watch our exciting young team develop. I fervently hope that we have no more days of watching our team getting smashed.

I saw a totally unexpected and truly amazing Carlton Flag won early in the career of a young coach, by a very young Carlton team.

Dont know exactly when this flag was, but I do sense that it will come with the players that we have now.

That win will be one of the most amazing premiership victories you would ever wish to see - a true classic.

It is won with a team of youngsters that no one rates - but who manage to come from nowhere - to pinch a flag. - All the 'rules' are broken, and convention is apparently turned on its head.

Carlton, in the eyes of our detractors, develops into a premiership winning side - by first winning a premiership - which when you think about it is probably the best way to do it.

But to others, this is an intensely irritating act of arrogance. But one that is in their faces - and that they cannot deny or refute - Which enrages them even more.

This cup is won with a great deal of luck during a season where we start slowly, have very few injuries, a favourable draw, and come in a rush at the end - finding the form that will propel us to glory.

That season is also one in which there is very little separating first from 11th or 12th.

Sometimes fairytales can come true - we need to give every chance for this to happen.

So I suggest that 2008 should be a year in which we dont set limits, set high goals and play like we have nothing to lose.

Winning a premiership IS the cake.

In a fairly structured competition, it is a multi-storey, fully iced and decorated cake, with seventeen candles burning brightly.

In the competition we have at present, the candles are still there, but the icing and decorating are not quite the same quality.
