It is our duty as supporters to love them to death as our own, but to also deter others to follow the steps of the deserters, and hence we should treat them with disdain in tribal solidarity.

Fair enough it's their rightful decision, and they have to look after themselves first, but they would have known what the cost was going to be in choosing to be loyal to themselves but disloyal to Carlton and Carlton supporters; that's our decision, and we're also allowed to be human in our response.

You put it so well bondi, it almost makes me feel like ringing Hamill up and giving him a spray :-D .

I mean I don't know the man (Hamill). I don't know how the club was functioning back then, only that it was the start of the end so I'm not about to bag a bloke who I don't know and where I definitely don't know the half of it..... that's like turning into moron....flower that!

At the time I loved the guy, given number 4 nice guy to approach. When i heard that he was leaving I thought shit..."what's wrong with Carlton?" as apposed to "Shit what's wrong with Hamill, the flower!"

It was reported at the time that Campo was sitting in the carpark at Princes Park, Essendon* jumper in hand, waiting to be traded to the Bombers for a good photo for the media.

Evidently Deano remembers it too although BM has cast doubt on it actually happening.

Why would he hang around our car park and not Windy Hill?

Beats me, but that's what was reported.

Trade week was held at Princes Park back then, that's where the media gathered.

Short memories.

I was disappointed Hamill left but understood why. Now his career is over so early he probably earned about half a million dollars more than he would've if he stayed with us.

Saw Hamill the other night at the Argentina / Australia match.

He'd been to the gents, walked back out into the main room with his pants still halfway down his legs... pulling them up and doing up his belt/zip etc.... the bloke is a tool.

Back on topic - no I don't feel sorry for him.

He's a player who will forever be in limbo - no name on locker ANYWHERE and no possibility of his son/s playing for ANY of his old clubs.

No..................... I have never had ill feelings towards Hamill.

That was a bad time in Calrton's history. Who knows what went on behind closed doors, away from the football field.

I know that when he left, he still had alot of contact with Carlton players. He remained, and still does, very good friends with them.

Feel sorry for Hamill that he couldn't get his body right!

I basically agree with you on Hamill. With respect to him leaving, I think a lot more happened behind closed door than people think.

Having said that, I think Campo is a total tool and was one of my least liked players when he was in Navy Blue.
