WC wanted JK; Carlton wanted Judd; I wanted Kruezer, Cotchin and keep JK. I didn't believe we'd get Judd anyway.
Am I happy JK's gone? No!
Am I happy Judd's a Carlton boy? @#$%&! yeah. Never in my wildest dreams I thought it could happen.
Trade JK or Walker? JK
I can see the pros and cons of Walker, and there are more pros, and a bloody big upside to exploit too!
I'd love to see Walker in the middle, but gees, when he's breaking the lines and defending well in the backline, I look in amazement and wonder if we can afford to take Walkers effectiveness in the backline. Who is going to replace his strength, ability and speed?
Walker will sort out his right foor kicking, firstly by getting his groin right. Look both JK and Walker have shown some bad kicking, and both are (were) part our future resurgence over the next decade.
JK is gone now, others will take his place from future trades, drafts or from an opportunity created ny JK's departure. Life goes on.
Bragging rights come from winning. The effect Judd coming to Carlton I knew was going to be good, but I have to say it is overwhelming....unbelievable...I pinch myself, even today.
Once he was signed, and we lost JK, I have to say I changed my feelings about the JK ordeal. So we lost 3, JK and 20..............for Judd FFS....and we retained pick #1 (hopefully) for Kruezer.
Are we better off with Kreuzer and Judd (the best in the land) or would we be better off with Kruezer, Cotchin, Kennedy & pick 20?
Well imo, we have served a 5 year sentence, and I prefer to look at things in 5 year blocks than 10 year blocks. In that case, we're much, much better off with Judd for the next 5 years for a plethora of reasons:
ON FIELD:
Leadership
Inspiration
Development of the kids (in skill and spirit)
More wins in 2008, than without him
More wins = more team confidence
Carlton is an attraction for elite players (not high draft picks) to come to in future drafts .
We can fast track our journey to finals.
Relieves Stevens and Murphy of the hardest tags.
OFF FIELD:
Memberships
Positive media
increased media coverage
sponsorships
merchandising
leverage
board success = board stability
planning ahead
In one instance the name JUDD has changed the face of the mighty club...I hear it, I see it and I feel it. It's true, we're well and truly in our renaissance, this aint no party, this aint no disco, this aint no foolin' around.
Let go of JK. It's done and dusted. Enjoy the ride; it's on the up. Lets get high.
The Carlton renaissance is now for real!
