9-12.......poor defence will continue to leak goals and without a top ruckman our midfield wont be as dominant as it should be.

Nup - last or very near to it. I'm the dufus who voted alone (at this stage). Can't think of a single team that's going to be worse than us - to be honest

194 cms, highly athletic and throws himself into the hole with reckless abandon in defence. His skills were supposedly his draw back but he's just lacking a little smarts as a left footer. Could play anywhere save for maybe the ruck at this stage.

Teams I expect to be above us next year
Geelong, West Coast, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide

Teams I expect below us next year
Richmond, Melbourne, Kangaroos, Adelaide, Essendon*

I find it difficult to compare with the other teams.

Anywhere from 5th-11th largely depending on injuries.

Hopefully Cloke and Hampson/Aisake can form a solid ruck combination? Maybe Setanta can maintain his rapid rate of improvement and become a quality key defender? Bower and Jamison should continue to improve in defence.[/u]

Another tall who can't kick and lacks smarts?

Sign him up. 8)

I hope we're nowhere near the bottom four and the best picks next year. :-D

And I agree with your avatar. :-D

He can kick, just he's not clever about it for a left footer. They usually know how to duck and weave in order to get onto their left to compensate for their one-sidedness.

with my feet firmly planted on the ground ..... and before Judd was signed up, I thought 8-10 games in 2008 would be a realistic expectation.

with Judd, I think we could sneak a peek at the finals next year ... but not much more ... 2009 is another story, m'thinks :)

We are going to ROCK !

Stevens and Judd in the midfield, Marc and Bryce following, Fev, Fish, and Waite in the forward fifty, the Óhailpín brothers up back, our possession-winning trail-blazers Carrots and Scottie, and the up and coming newbies and / or rookies of Jamo, Harts, Bower, Aussie, Action, and our ruck division of ... well, we can't have it all. But the Blues will be back with more than a vengeance!

I voted for 5-8 but even if we finish 9-12 I'd be happy!

now that we've got judd, and stevens is back, and murphy, gibbs, walker etc. are all one year older i believe we are one of 12 teams who are now capable of making the eight. obviously a major factor in whether most teams will make the eight is dependant on injuries. given a completely injury-free run i believe we will make the eight but that is unlikely. the only teams who probably still wouldn't make it after a completely injury-free season are richmond and maybe Essendon* (but i would have said the same thing about the kangaroos last year). that probably sounds like a contradiction after i said we are now 1 of 12 teams who are capable but saying 14 just seemed too many. :? FWIW, i voted us to finish 9th-12th.

that probably made no sense at all.

We won 4 games this year. I think if we had selected our strongest side we might have won 2 out of the last 6, but that obviously would have been a mistake.

Expect the players to come out pretty fired up and have a good start. The quality of Judd and Stevens should help to get us over the line in a few close ones.

I'd be disappointed to win less than 8 games next year, and I reckon 12 would be about as much as we could possibly hope for coming off the last 5 years. So realistically that would mean somewhere between 7 and 13, depending on the sort of year that unfolds.

Gut tells me 8th-12th, and if that was the case I'd be happy but looking for finals action in 2009.

I think that we are still a bit away of from finals footy yet even though we have secured Judd....

I believe we will be pushing to gain a spot but i think if we win 9 games next season we have done well

but also i would like to see blues pushing the top 8 and hopefully sneaking in there....

ladder position i feel we will finish the season is 12th spot

cheers

id hope 6-10. i think 8 wins is bare minimum, but given the performances of port and the kangaroos this year who knows...im not saying top 4, i think thats absurd, but if we can cement ourselves in the 2nd half of the 8 itd be a good result.

I voted 9-12. Next season for me is still about sorting out a game plan and continuing to develop the players. Remember that we have had one game plan for the last six years or something... and we need to work on fresh scenarios on the field, and learn to play a more flexible brand of footy. This could still open us up to the odd shocker... although hopefully our shockers won't be in the 100 point range again. Also, keep in mind that there is no ruck for our midfielders (unless Hammer or Aisake or Cloke play blindingly good seasons - probably a bit beyond them just at the minute), and that it may take a few games for guys like Judd and Hadley to slot into the side. The same goes for any big fish we land in the PSD... and given the confidence of Synbad and EB I do expect that we will be adding at least one more quality player to the side.

All that said, I'd be disappointed if we couldn't build a platform for finals in 2009 though.
