Yes, let's all bag Melvey for bringing up a significant topic.

We're 15th and in debt, with mediocre facilities, a team with very little depth and anyone who questions how great the club is gets bagged. Granted, this issue won't affect us a whole lot, but there's not a whole lot to be proud about just yet.

That said, Premiership '09!

First of all, yes it is a news-worthy topic - bit I don't know about anyone else but I'm a little peeved that it has been aired out by someone who is clearly not a Carlton fan. And the problem with this is? The motive behind bringing it up - obviously stirring trouble ala Melvey and His Amazing Opposite Hat.

Two more things. We have a LOT to be proud of - there's 16 reasons in fact, and a walk through MC Labour Park will further add weight to that.

And lastly, we're not 15th. 2007 is finished. At this very moment, we are equally with every other team in the AFL.

i am a proud and passionate carlton member.

what gets up my nose are threads like, 'lets bag eddie' personally i cant stand the bloke, but he has taken hold of that club and turned it into the strongest sporting brand in australia without being a billionare.

we have not yet to signe Juddy, we have yet to win more than 5 games a year consistently, our facilities are poor, we lack leadership but yet so many of you are reverting back to arrogance of old that got us in this mess

when we start wining games, finals premierships then we can become arrogant and rub it, but to read things ike 'our facilities will be better than the pies' stinks.

the pies setup there own facilties off there own initiative ours are being paid for by governemnt and council.

i am scared that the carlton arrogance will come back to bite us in the bum again.

i hate the fact amongst my mates my club gets laughed at, i have to hear how crap we are but i know we will have the last laugh but lets do it in a manner thats graceful with out arrogance

thats all, i love this club its not a hobby for me, i go week in week out, am a paid up member have been for 9 years or so

Don't Collingwood share their facilities with the Victorian Institute of Sport?

Even you would have to agree Melvey the turnaround at Carlton inside 12months has been staggering, and it flower needed to be. And I'd give up on your references to 'Juddy', there are respected posters who beg to differ and you have been consistently 100% wrong.

Yes, but you announce it as facts and you speak in absolutes. Not to mention the negativity which has been widely displayed.

You remind me of the IRS agent who loved his job.

Yes..

It's good news as it will hit the headlines for a couple of weeks then go away.

Which would be good for Pratt, Visy, and Carlton........

We'll see how courageous Dwayne is when he's attacking someone who could buy his fat arse 1000 times over.

It would be good to see some TCers ring him up and stick it to him. All through the year he's been calling us a rabble etc. He should be reminded 100 times over that the best player in the comp wants to play for us and whats more, he will be.
As will the number one draft pick.

I'm sure our 40k members, our new state of the art facilities and our healthy profits will also be great news for him next year. 8)

Choke on it Derwaaayne!

Remind him also that Gibbs dad didn't meet Father-Son criteria so Bryce shouldn't be playing for Adelaide.

Melvey, you may just have missed the frequent comments by Richard Pratt where he has indicated that he could write a cheque to get the Blues out of debt but that would not improve the club long term. He has worked towards rebuilding the club so it is not reliant on just one "white knight." Another poster has suggested that once Mr Pratt gets us in a very sound financial position with a secure financial and football future that he might toss in a few bob as a departing guesture. Whether he does or not, I am confident that his legacy will a be profound influence on the future of our club. Your comment about "one year of handouts" just demonstrates that you do not know what is happening.

As for "chocco" (sic) williams having the runs on the board, I would like to see what Ratts could have done with Ports Powers list last year. I would suggest that with the talent in their list, they have underperformed for a few years.

Is Melvey your middle name, with Eddie as your first and McG...... as the others?
