One year ago....

Almost one year ago I attended the club's AGM. I walked away in despair. The AGM itself was laughable - poorly run, unprofessional, Sticks as MC regaling the old ladies with crappy jokes. Our plight seemed to matter little. Sure, we had a new board, but it seemed the situation was irretrievable. Throw in a disrespected, out of date coach, a massive debt, poor resources (people and equipment), doubt about who our next President would be, limited revenue streams, and poor on-field performances, and it was easy to understand the misery of many.

Today.....

Australia's 3rd richest man is our President, and along with him is set to flow piles of money from Corporate Australia. The old coach is gone, replaced by a forward thinking favourite son. The senior coach and his assistants actually talk to each other. The debt has been reduced. The sponsors are queueing up. The facilities are set to become state of the art. The playing list is developing. The best junior ruckman in the country is about to be drafted. And cream on the cake - the best player in the country wants, repeat wants, to play for us. It's been years since a player chose us, Ackland aside.

The supporters have hope, something they haven't had in years. The playing list have support and resources, the coaches have the playing list to work with. No more excuses.

A year is a long time, especially in football.

Nice thread NBH ... this thought has been on my mind ever since the Judd news started a week or two back.

This time last year he would not have even bothered meeting with us.

Things change. :-D

This, to be honest, is what i'm happy about the most.

We are a professionaly run outfit again! Not some Rable.

It makes me so proud,............i just might cry.

Great summary of my feelings aswell.

A year is a long time in football - just so happens that 2007 for CFC was one of massive positive change and transition.

Imagine if we could have a similar rate of improvement over the next 12 months. The sky's the limit.

I LOVE DICK

This time last year St Kilda were a club with a premiership in their sights.

Don't forget those tossers from Linton Street laughing at us and telling us what rabble we are.

Now they are the ones without a Board - and looking for another Premiership Window.

The thing i find the funniest is that 'one year' ago when Akermanis was on the search for a new Melbourne based club, he anounced he would check out every club except for Carlton.

A year on Chris Judd, the countries best player, selects Carlton over all other clubs. That despite we only won 4 games and finished 2nd bottom this year. 8)
