Yes we didnt give up much for him, but we still put him on a relatively lucrative contract (which is the concern of a lot of people in this thread)

Ive heard that if Judd comes to Melb (looking more likley by the day) he is coming to Carlton.

Yeah so have i Josh....

And Stevens is an outside player who cruises... Judd is a hard inside player on turbo chargers... that has to take mmore toll.

He will improve ur kids.. like Hamill mentored StKildas but Hamills been washed up for a few years... and they have no depth becauseof their contracts

So you reckon that if he calls a media conference and says he's leaving the Eagles that he will nominate us as his club of choice Josh???

I am still nervous about this deal by the way...

So he'd be signalling his intentions to come to Carlton and no one else?

And I need to take umbrage at your description of the way Judd plays-

a "hard inside player who turbo charges" and "whose body has taken a battering" are not fair descriptions of the way he plays..
Yes he gets the hard ball, but Id say he is more of an outside player then Kerr/ Braun/ Stenglein.. I think his best attributes are as more an outside then an inside player.
Also- his "body has taken a battering?" He has hardly missed a game in 3 years an he isnt playing CHF where the real hard contests come.. he is a midfielder. To say his body has taken a battering playing the position he plays is a bit rich..

Im not sure if he will signal his intentions to come to us if he calls a Press conference- but I know West Coast want to dal with us, he wants to come and we want him.
Thats 3 boxes ticked. We only need 3 ticks.

I think what Synners might have been trying to say was that because he pushes himself so hard with his explosive running, it's taken a toll on his body i.e. his groin problem.

Josh, any (inside) thoughts on possible expectations from WCE on trades, ie draft picks vs players and if players KPP's or mids?

Does WC want to trade with us b/c they want something we have (Fev/picks) or for another reason?

Assuming Judd wants to come, what are we prepared to trade for him / what will WC accept?

Fev + No.3?
Fev + 1 + 3?
1 + 3?
3 + young gun (eg.kennedy)?

and, btw, as I have been out of the loop for a while, what is the word on kruezer compared with a Kennedy?

Another thing in our favor, if CFC decides to go after CJ, is that the recruiting staff from both clubs get on very well and can talk freely and openly. I doubt there will be any cloke and dagger/blood out of a stone/mind games stuff that some clubs carry on with (we all know who they are :-) )

Also Woosher is still friendly with the CFC folk from his time here. I know it is a business but it is still easier to do business and cut deals with people you get on with rather than those that grate. :-)

Regards Cazzesman

Not literally, Fevola.

It's like when Carey went looking for a new club back in 2002. He said his club of choice was Adelaide. So he was an Adelaide player, but they needed to do the deal to make it official.

BANG!
Lets get him back home!

Thats the key point. Judd is running the show here. He chooses who he wants to be traded to, not West Coast.
Didn't realise he did their trading. Stevens wanted to go to Collingwood.

Yeh but WestCoast are not as stupid as Port Adelaide. Plus Collingwood were mocking them by not being realistic about trading for Stevens.

Do you think WestCoast will give up getting pick 3 by proving a point and letting him go to Richmond for free. I doubt it..

This is of course depending on how much Judd wants to come to Carlton or whether he justs wants to go to Victoria..

That has to take a toll...

remember when Harvey had those 2 years pof hammy problems -0 when was that?around 150 - 180 games? How many has he now played?

The truth of the matter is we do not know. But I would expect Carlton to have experts involved who might know a little bit more. If not then whether we take Judd or not is not relevant, we are a dumb club and will be consigned to the bin and matter how many great picks we end up with.

The argument is really about

keep the kids we have and add more

or sacrifice what we (the club not you and me) think is a reasonable price for one of the best footballers in the land.

This whole he is shot crap is just a red herring.

unless of course he is shot 8)

I just think if a fair deal can be struck, then we should take it. Imagine these young players like Walker, Murphy, Kennedy, Bower, Russell, Gibbs, etc. They haven't known finals footy, they haven't been involved in succesful sides. If you go back even further to say Simpson and Fisher, they have played in two wooden spoon sides and two sides that finished second last. They may well be wandering if it will ever turn around, when it will turn around, etc. Then imagine coming down to pre-season training and seeing Judd, who is probably regarded by most of them as the best player in the league, ready to go into battle with them. As it is, we already have a significant lack of senior players. With the retirements of Lappin, Kouta (and probably Lance), those stocks are rapidly diminishing. Yes we need to develop our own talent, and hang onto most of our picks. But we also need someone to show our young midfield brigade, and more broadly our side, the way forward, to instill confidence in our young players and lead by example. Judd is that man, lets hope we can get him.

If I were to put a figure on it Id say Judd is 70% ours.
A few scenarios have been thrown up:
Pick 3, Pick 20 and Kennedy is what the Eagles are keen on, but I think we are pushing for 3/20/Bower- the Eagles would then throw in their first round pick as well.
also- the Fev situation is another interesting part of the equation- the club is aware they might be able to get 5 and 7 for him, and then give 3 and 7 for Judd and end up with 1, 3, Eagles first pick, pick 20 for Fev.

Importantly, WCE are not going to deal with Collingwood no matter what so you can cancel them out.
What I rekcon would be ideal is a trade of 3, 20, Scotland for Judd and pick 14-

Whatever happens, it seems we are in the box seat for the first time in a long time.
