My favourite Fev story is when he used to often drive past a house in melbourne where the owners flew a carlton flag from their flagpole. One day, the flag wasn't flying so he stopped his car, got out and knocked on the bloke's door and asked 'why aren't you flying the flag??".

Yep - in many ways he's just a big kid, and I don't think he's been at all malicious when he's crossed the line.

Footy would be far more interesting if there were more Fevs and less robots.

But still... our aim is premiership No.17, so you still always do what's best for the club and the team. so 'good guy' status will only get you so far.

I was at the same function.. actually sat directly behind Fev in the stand. It was model behaviour from Fev, all round. Arm and finger still all wrapped up fromt he recent surgery.

Hmm... I saw about 5-6 other players floating about that room, including;

Hird
Buckley
Nathan Thompson
Jess Sinclair
Juda... sorry Hamill

I think you could probably rule out the top two from the 'did not sign' list.

Buckley used to be one of the worst going around for signing autographs, always looked annoyed at doing it and used to sign NB.

That's why he didn't grab the little sh1t in a headlock and flush him down the dunny.

Seriously though, I love the guy as a character and a footballer 70% of the time, but I'd take the right deal if it presented itself in a heartbeat.

When he's good he's up there with the best, but when he's bad all that gets washed away and we forget how good he can be.

If he goes it will be a bitter sweet day for me, that's for sure.

I've said that for the right deal I would trade him, if he can't guarantee to the club he'll sustain a team ethic in every regard.

When he's good (on and off the field) he's very, very good. It's those times when he's not where he let's himself and everyone around him down. Big time.

I have to say I think team balance on the field is probably more important to just a persons character and I'm not sure whether I want Fev traded or not but -

I can say from the only club function I've been to that whilst most players were there signing autographs (save a few eg. campo) behind a desk, Fev was the only player who signed autographs then actually came out to have a chat with everyone in the crowd (and it wasn't a happy crowd we just lost to WC by 100+ )

Who was the player that brushed the kid aside?

Thats pretty low even if he did go for another team.

Was at the soccer tonight, and in a function, and saw Fevola and a few other players. Now this kid went up to a player I won't name, and said he supported his club (the club was not Carlton) and asked for an autograph. He was brushed aside. Fair enough you might say, except the kid was approximately 7 years old and a quick autograph would not have been too troubling. He then went to Fev, and said he didn't support Carlton but liked Fev and wanted his autograph anyway. Fev must have spent at least 5 minutes talking to the kid, and from what I heard it was about if the kid played little league football and just football in general. He then got the other player to sign an autograph for the kid.

I just thought I'd post this because there has been alot of negative stuff on here about Fevola, so I thought why not point out this nice deed that he had done, which had definitely made this kid's night. I don't want to tie this to the trade fev/don't trade Fev debate. I just thought it would highlight that Fev is not just a good footballer, but a good bloke too.
David Teague = Best Clubman 2006; Dyland Maclaren & David Teague hosted a family day earlier this year ... they're both out on their Rrs ... OK - Fev is a great player, and does some great work for the club (there was the post about a flag being chased down by the man) but that doesn't render him untouchable ...

Any professional player (and not the guy from the team that the kid does support) would give their time of day to a seven year old. It's things like this that kids remember, and help form a basis of an opinion that sticks with them for life.

Onya Fev.. the table has us on the bottom but you continue to put us and yourself on top ...

Great form from Fev. If only he provided OUR kids with such support and guidance!
