One question
If we were having this discussion in ROund 8 after Juddy had just completed his 5th BOG from the first 8 ganes, would you be having these concerns?
Especially considering how his presence would not only fast track the development of the youngsters, but ensure we have ON FIELD LEADERSHIP direct from the best club in the country.

This isnt just about getting Judd the player- its about getting the package.. and I think that is invaluable.

And he has at least 150 games left in him which is a solid 6-7 seasons.. that is very very good service.

If we can get him id take him. If it meant trading fev who has the same fitness problems as Judd id do it also.

Who's to say Fev won't throw Alex over his shoulder & pack up the kids and head o/s with Sav at the end of his contract next year anyway?

Trading Fev with a pick now for Judd, who is the complete package & would advance our kids quickly, might be the correct move.

Who's to say that Judd and his girlfriend won't go O/S because she has been given a modelling gig?

Nothing in life is certain - except death and taxes.

..if we're gonna truely rebuild, we best do it properly..

Fair enough.. I don't wanna trade our picks either. But we can't assume high picks = stars to the like of JB and Judd. Many high picks are flops so I can also see why people are keen to trade for a gun. However I would rather draft two young guns that may become stars at best or consistent players at worst

Nah, she'd ditch Juddy in a heartbeat if that happened

Judd at $1m a year is only going to hurt our club long term, because it'll make it difficult for us to pay other players like Gibbs (who will be a star) market value. In a few years time when we have cap issues and Adelaide and Port come knocking for Gibbs, we'll be in strife. We can't go overboard to get Judd. If he comes at $600k a year and for a straight swap with Fev (or Fev and a later pick) go for it. But not for our first 2 picks and not at $1m+ a year.

Judd & Carlton would just have to take it contract by contract. In 3 or 4 years time our young midfielders will be at full speed anyway so Juddy will either cop what is offered or leave.
The immediate future is so important for our young stars and having Chris Judd on board would be enormous for them.

Didn't Ratten say 'Fev will not be traded'. From what I understand he said this a week ago and has now reiterated it on 3AW.

Why does everyone keep talking this crap about Fev being traded? Every year its the same old thing.

I can't believe this, but I am agreeing with everything Synners has said in this thread. :-D

#1 & #3 should be off the table. I can see Swanny and co are covering all bases with the never say never talk, but this is too good an opportunity to pass up.

I've got faith that we'll grab at least one very good mature player through the PSD/trade week. Coupled with 1, 3 & 20 that's a great off season haul.

This time of year is traditionally filled with disinformation.

At regular times you can't believe everything you read in the paper or see on the TV.....the Twilight Zone until trade and draft time even moreso!
