Carrazzo should win by a mile but who knows with this farce of an award.

Agreed...

In 2006, Fev was easily our best player...but Whitnall won it!
In 2004, Lappin hands down was the best, but somehow Teague got it

The system must be changed..

Carrots should win it!

I hope Simmo gets it. He lifted when the acid was put on him mid season and showed some real leadership.

When is our B+F?

I think Carrots will win it followed closely by Simmo, Houlihan, Scotland and Fisher.

But I dare say it will be between Simmo or Carrots.

Simmo deserves it. May have had less possessions than Carrots but he carries the ball more and is more damaging with his possessions. Also was really hard at it and lead from the front when he took over the captaincy.

Simmo
Carrotts
Scotland
Houlihan
Fish (although missing games doesn't help him)
Waite
Walker
Murph
Fev
Thornton (again missing games doesn't help)

Best club man - Setanta
Best first year - Gibbs
Mosts improved - Carrots

Simmo damaging with his kicks? Damaging to the team, l have never seen him kick it to Fev on a lead, always kicks it up high in the air and hopes someone takes a high mark.

Watch houlihan, every time he hits fev on the chest or Fev marks it on a clear lead marking contest everytime. Now thats damaging

Ackland - Best ruckman :)

This is kinda sad but i would gibbs in our top 8 players this year, a rookie to be in the top 8 or 10 of a club shows a pretty bad list

1. Simmo - his work rate was outstanding and earns his possies but hard running and attacking

2. Carrots - speaks for itself

3. Scotland - He's been so solid with backline clearances and you cant ignor the fatc that he's top 5 in AFL in possies

4. Fish - he worked harder than any other forward in our team and proved he is worth talk he's been getting for years. He's a freak

5. Houla - classy, composed and accurate. His delivery is always spot on.

Just wondering why Murph has been unable to make it into anyones top 5. Thought he was bound for B&F Glory at the start of this season based on last years performance

Yes, it's true.
Dog and Agro agreed on something.

Good analysis. I think Murph was just hit pretty hard with tags during the year and never really hit his staps. I think he will be there abouts in the top 5-8. With Stevens back next year I think Murph will step up to another level.

TOP 10 (in order):
Carrazzo - Super consistent ball-magnet.
Simpson - Actually improved as the year slid away. Was an inspirational captain, and Carrot's only threat.
Houlihan - My controversial selection... Very consistent. Quietly effective. Played his part almost every week.
Scotland - Another ball-magnet. Only question is whether his sideways chips are part of the gameplan...
Fisher - Second highest goal-scorer. Consistent and hard-working.
Waite - Inconsistent. But his best at either end of the ground was a highlight of the year.
Walker - Was great at the start of the year. Solid through the middle, and picked up stats after he returned from injury, but question-mark over his effectiveness
Fevola - Still nearly kicked 60 goals despite missing 4 games and 'going missing' during others.
Murphy - Battled his way through the year, eventually playing a different role late.
O'Hailpin - Did everything that was asked of him all year. Everything.

No-one else played all (or most) of the season...

Thornton - The only one who could sneak in. Conceded lots of goals, and missed the end of the season...
Gibbs - Best first-year player. Solid.
Ackland - Horrible.
Whitnall - Inconsistent and missed a big patch of games.
Stevo - Started on fire. Got injured.
Bentick - Got dropped, but fairly consistent otherwise. Does unflashy stuff.
Betts - Solid, but not top-10.
Saddington - Played half the year.
Bannister - Consistent role-player, but didn't play the whole year.
Lappin - Good enough, but got injured.
Kouta - Will finish just outside I reckon. Missed too much footy.

No-one else played often enough.

Although Waite, Walker and Setanta may get in, I don't think they should. IMO, Betts didn't have a solid year and although his last game was good, he had a patch of about three weeks where he had about ten possessions. It is out of Simmo and Carrazzo, but Carrazzo will probably get it because Simmo had a bad start to the year. I would also like to see Fisher do well.

Given the criteria and the ticking of the boxes, this award is designed to award players based on how well they carry out team instructions and do what the coaches want. You won't always get the best player this way.

Gibbs will get votes because he pretty much did what the coaches wanted without crossing those boundaries too often. Teague did what the coaches wanted in 04 and also exceeded that. So, I don't think it says that much about our list if Gibbs comes in the top ten because, we know he has been a team player and had done what was asked of him.

Ackland wouldn't have done what the coaches would have expected, so he should finish way downtown.
As Buckley alluded to in one of his articles, our game plan ran through Carazzo and he carried it out superbly. I think he would have to win this one.

Or... it cold be that Fisher was one of those pleasant surprises and gets rewarded. Unfortunately, it's unlikely.

Simmo had some very poor games early on.
I recall thinking he was held back by injury as his pace and chasing ability was down considerably.
In saying that, Big Red and Corey McKernan showed that a good half season is sometimes good enough.

Simmo started off with a bang, but some of his early games were well off his best.

Picked up just after the mid season break and finished off on a high note.

I'd expect him to come home with a wet sail, but Carrazzo has been far too consistent for mine.

He WILL win.
