Considering the young list we have and with more kids coming I believe our biggest issue is the coaching staff and who will fill what roles.

If we keep going down the Pratt road of getting the best, who is that?

Also, Ratts needs to be happy with them as I do not want another Pagan/Mitchell scenario. I have no doubt that a lot of ours kids have suffered this year because of it.

Here's my possibles (2 options) for each:

Development & Asst Coach: Chris Connolly/Mark Riley
Defense: Croisisca/Archer
Midfield: Blakey/R.Harvey
Forwards: C.Grant/J.Barker
Opposition: Bond/O'Donnell
Reserves: Peter Dean/A Rock

Thoughts?

I'm not sure why Archer keeps getting mentioned as a potential assistant coach. After his attacks on the club after Pagan was sacked I wouldn't have thought that he'd even come close to be considered, even if he wanted the job which I doubt very much.

Carey for motivational speaker ;)

Seriously, we need to get someone like Rod Ashman to take the kids under his wing and teach them some things about both life and footy.

I also like what Thompson did at Geelong by installing someone (an outside consultant perhaps) to teach leadership skills to their senior players. This could be just what our future leaders (Murhp, Gibbs, K-Dog, Waite, Fish, Walker etc) will need to help them take that next step.

I'd like to see Ratts get full say in his assistants for next season.

With that said,................. i hope like hell that Libba goes.

I'd also like to see us nab Justin Leppitch as an assistant too..... i rate him highly.

Kouta i would love to see around the club in some shape or form......... i'm just not sure what.

A mentor type role to the kids perhaps? A Midfield assistant?

If Ricciuto not hooked up at Crows, would love him somewhere in the mix. Has the Voss package without the ego.

Italian Team Of The Century captain, too!

I agree, and a full time one at that!! Darcy would be good but I think he has desires on a media position

Maybe Gardiner will be available??

Love the idea of Darcy as a ruck or development coach.

I've mentioned it before, but while I have no idea how effective Dempsey has ben as a ruck coach, I find it curious that our ruck coach hasn't played under the current ruck laws. Would love to see a modern ruckman come to teach our guys the art of modern rucking.

Darcy is smart and an excellent communicator, and well respected.

Archer said on On The Couch last night that he has no desire to coach, doesn't like speaking to small groups.

I would like to see someone experienced as one of the assistants, to give Ratts some support. Some will shoot me down for this, but I reckon we could do worse than getting N Daniher down there. I think he's actually done really well with an list that isn't brilliant (ie got about as much as he could out of them, MOST of the time - and yes, I realise they had some shit years in there). His experience would be invaluable.

Interesting that Ratts used to be his assistant, and there are some rumours that they didn't see eye to eye.

Another option for an assistant...N Buckley!

Give it a rest mate. Kouta is an absolute legend of the club. If not for knee injuries his contract reflected his quality given he was the best player in the league at the time of his contract.

Jees, I've started so many responses and erased them. Can't be bothered.
