The changes made at the top, Pratt, Icke, Swann etc.
Getting the club's finances back on track.
Club membership 35000+
Brett Ratten.
Not getting the wooden spoon.

Fisher, Simpson, Gibbs, Murphy, Jamison, Setanta, Bower, Waite, Carrazzo, Jackson, picks 1,3,20.

A fit Stevens and Cloke to give some depth.

Improvements needed in Betts (30-40 goals), Walker (disposal), Thornton (grow up), Fev (ditto),
Potential in Hampson, Kennedy, and Aisake.

Pros

22 games for Gibbs, he is close to the youngest guy in the AFL and has great future
Murph took on #1 tagger and should have learnt a lot, really developing well
Bower looks a bit unco at times but also has a bit of Kevin Hall about him, is a good spoil and is developing quite well
Setanta, has played 32 games straight and has really improved his understanding of the game. Kicked very accurately for goal and if he can shake off groin probs will be a great CHB/ utility
Fish - his best season
Carrazzo - really stepped up from honest battler to quality midfielder, has great hands and doesn't take a backward step
Simmo continued where he left off in 06, great courage, class and leadership
Jamieson - lucky a spot opened up -seized opportunity with both hands, very solid defender
JAcko- looked like the gods were aganst him when he broke his hand but took next opportunity and looks a classy addition to midfield
Russell - much maligned but I thought showed steady improvement and is getting some size and confidence
Hampson - early days but has simian arms, is 200cm and has huge leap and can run - possible Jeff White in a few years, great pick up
Houla - much maligned, never going to be tough, but I thought had a very good year
Change of coach - had to happen, but DP has handled himself with real class since sacking
#1 and #3 draft pick. This better be the last year we talk about PPs. The AFL can get rid of them now
Picks we've had - no excuses in 08 we'll have 3x#1, a 2, a 3, a 4, 6 more in top 20. Has any side ever had 6 top 4 picks and 12 top 20 in their team?Add that to Simmo Fev Carrazzo Fish et al and if we can't create a super team out of that then Hughesy better start looking at property in Bolivia because there'll be a lynch mob after him
Dick and new committee - working hard and smart together
Swann - tough smart CEO
Waite- his best sublime, his worst inept, but more sublime than inept this year, and like the encouragement he gives.

Pros and Cons
Aisake showed great athleticism but bad luck he was injured, would have liked to see him in the ones
Ando - lots of grunt and promise, pity he did his hamstring, and criminal that he did it again as soon as he came back
Hartlett- big brute with attitude, showed soemthing but injury prone
Jake Edwards - unluckily injured twice when on brink of selection. Has attitude hope he comes on
Kennedy - got some games but had bad luck with injury. Hoped he'd show more, still looks out of depth but 2 year contract indicates the club see him as having a good future, hope he takes big steps in 08

Cons
Fev's attitude, not acceptable, needs to decide whether he wants to be a rich wayward talent or a rich superhero, remebered and lauded forever- shouldn't be a hard decision
Whitnall - Synbad was right. I kept hoping Whit would shape up, but he has rarely done enough to be the best he can, and was a very disappointing captain. Still has magic hands and did have great disposal but the knee seems to have sorted that. Think hardworkers like Banno or Saddo deserve a spot more than Red. Perhaps we could get Dogs #27 for Whit and our #36, Can't see much better will be on offer. Would love a Hay deal, but I doubt it will happen

off-field everything is looking just rosy and will only get better with pratt & co. finally pumping money into the football department. definately need player development coaches and ratten said we're getting 2 of them for 2008.

on-field was pretty ordinary. when nick stevens went down i knew it was only going downhill from there. with his inclusion next year plus a few draft picks, we could finish from 8th-12th.

FB Jamison Austin Thornton
HB Simpson Setanta Walker
C Gibbs Murphy Stevens
HF Kennedy Waite Fevola
FF Betts Kreuzer Fisher
R Aisake Carazzo Russell

INT Hampson, pick #3, Bower, Bannister

wow you've got kreuzer pushing fev out of full forward! hope it happens but i think we're expecting too much out of a ruckman in his first season.

#5. SETANTA PLAYING ALL 22 GAMES.
Man...........am so proud of this kid. I think thou, that he is not getting the credit he deserves. Could well be our most versitle player...... How many others on our list can play Ruck / Midfield / Foward & Back. I think we may have trouble finding the right position for him next year. I'd like to trial him as CHB to be honest. He is a decent Full Back and could well prove to be a great one at that, but i love his run and carry too so perhaps CHB or along the wing is more suited.

Wouldn't mind seeing him play an Adam Goodes type role

I'm thinking along similar lines - his attacking flair is wasted in defence and he doesn't really look the part as a forward. Interesting to see Ratts try him on the wing in the final game - Kouta II maybe.

Speaking of positives - we showed we have the talent to win games provided we are competitive in the ruck and we don't get injuries to key players. Its all about ruckmen and depth and we are not that far away.
