Ok, we might gain long-term by tanking, but BOLLOCKS TO THAT. The Carlton football club has a proud heritage and I don't want to tank for a priority pick. If we try our bollocks off and don't get a priority pick, I'd much prefer that rather than piss farting around and aiming for a pick. Let's TRY and win and gain respect.

Yes, play the kids, but have the mentality to win and build a winning culture. If that means we don't get the PP then so be it.

This will be a long-term process, there won't be any quick fixes. Let's do this in a way that the CFC can hold its head up in years to come. I'm not convinced that getting one PP will be the difference between where we are and where we want to be.

Barracking for a win this week, and every week. GO BLUES!

Fair enough comments...I dont want to see us play each week and lay down for a PP either...however when you play kids they usually are up and down and you cop some heavy losses and dont win too many.
Playing kids on mass is tanking in reality but with the disclaimer you are developing youth....I dont see any other alternatives under the present system...

I don't think there has been enough discussion on tanking.

I don't think we have much choice in the matter. If we try to win then we won't anyway. So who needs to tank?...

I think this thread just indicated the frustration by the majority of Carlton people by the talk our some continuously wanting us to finish last, just so we get top picks.

Not worth it Steve, it seems the our beloved club is going down the "rabble" Saints path and playing dead.

It would be great to get the real inner thoughts of Denis on this subject I reckon. For all our talk of should we tank or should we try, it's really just a bunch of fans chewing the fat and has no bearing on the match committee's actions or planning.

Is playing kids really tanking? Or is tanking sending a team out to deliberately lose? I think the passion of these discussions is great, but really, most of us want the same thing, we just have different opinions on how to get there and I think in the debate actually clouds this and people get too caught up in pushing their point of view.

While there may be a portion of the club's supporters secretly hoping we don't win enough games to "lose" a PP I can't imagine Denis planning for a loss every week.
