The Hammer is a metaphor for patience. He is our Tom Williams (Bulldogs) except we got the Hammer at pick 17 not pick 5. The Hammer's year is 2010. It is a 4 year development program for the Hammer

I wish I could see his first game for the Blues but here in Perth there is no live coverage of the game on Ten as they will be showing Freo v Melb on both Ten and Fox. Fox then repeat Carlton v North at 6am Sunday. Not conducive to my lifestyle to be up and watching it then!

So to all who see the match be extremely descriptive with your reports for us tragic souls in the football wasteland of WA. Unprecedented coverage my arse.

There is a lot there to work with.

Our rovers seemed confused roving to a guy who wins hitouts.

Around the ground he has a lot to learn but i think he shows great promise.

Keep playing him.

I didn't get to the match, but the guys on radio (wallsy, cummings) thought he showed a fair bit. I'm glad that he'll be playing next week - it'll be good for him to go up against Jeff White.

19 years old and already a better ruckmen that Ackland.

will be a good ruck in time, just needs a few seasons.

good debut game, and has some toe about him for a big man as well

A couple of pre-seasons behind him and this kid could be anything.

It's nice to have genuine ruckmen again.

Ackland is absolute rubbish.

The mere fact that he's getting a game is a victory in and of itself, and confirmation that the club made the right decision when it got rid of Pagan. No longer will we have a conflict at the highest levels of our football club, everyone knows where we are going and what decisions have to be made to get there. It's unimportant how Hampson performs this early in his career, just that he gets a taste.

That turnover that cost a goal looked bad but he'll learn from that.

Hampson's leap is insane.

he has a great leap and focuses really hard on his palm work as well.

will lose the spring in his step if he concentrates putting some eat on those bones..he is very very raw.
