SOrry to bump this up again. BUT.

Did anyone see that 8 point play just now against us. @#$%&! INFURIATING.

Adelaide kicked a point, we kicked out and gave it to them, they kicked another point, we gave it back again, they kicked a goal.

ITS KILLING US (and i'm starting to think it's coaching).

PAGAN! FIX THE KICKOUT TACTICS

Agreed SB

They've been woeful kicking it out all year

Everyone is stagnant, we kick a short kick to the back pocket - then bomb the ball long to a contest where we are outnumbered.

Yet when the opposition kick in, they're allowed to take it the length of the ground before we touch it :x

How about giving Chris Bryan a game and getting to kick the bloody thing to the centre square, at least the opposition will need two kicks to get it back

Exactly, I'd bring him into the team just for that! He'd also have to be a better ruck option than Deluca.

We seriously suck at kick ins..... Bring on Chrissy Bryan!

Geez the kicking in on Sunday was dreadful.

I just can't uinderstand what the problem is? It seems the kickins go directly to the opposition or to a contest (at least these things happened most of the time on Sunday)....

What the hell is going on?

I was going to suggest the same thing. Watching the bullants match on tv he kept getting it basically into the centre circle. Although this was with wind as other have said at least it takes more than one kick to get a goal for the oppisition. We have all seen fletcher from the bombers bang to the middle an the Essendon* players just keep running we dont really have anyone who can do this. Just give him a go, its gotta be an improvement

Bryan as the designated kicker..interesting concept.....reminded me of Geoff Southby watching him kick to the centre...maybe I am old fashioned but I like the FB being one of the best kicks in the team and kicking the ball in everytime and being able to kick it a long way..its one skill that has gone from the game......I wouldnt mind seeing Bryan get a game just to watch him kick the footy....all this mindless short passing and dinky kicks around corners is starting to annoy me....

Wait for Hartlett to be ready Elwood...now there's your big kick.

***Big BUMP!!***

We're almost reaching the one year anniversary of this particular thread and guess what - the rules have changed but some things stay the same - we're getting killed at the kick outs!!

I'm not in the lynch Pagan mob yet (Im undecided), but the kickout farce is a factor working against Pagan. He complained about kickouts being the reason we lost after the Richmond game - but fair dinkum.

Denis! You had all pre-season to and all week every week to get a decent strategy!

Also, Lappin's kicking out has been worse this year.

Coast to Coast (Agg) Gls
1 Richmond 14 7
2 Western Bulldogs 14 6
3 Essendon* 11 5
4 Port Adelaide 11 7
5 St Kilda 11 7
6 Carlton 10 4
7 Collingwood 10 2
8 Melbourne 10 5
9 West Coast 9 6
10 Hawthorn 8 5
11 Geelong 7 2
12 Adelaide 6 3
13 Brisbane 6 4
14 Fremantle 6 4
15 Sydney 6 4
16 Kangaroos 5 2

All of our opponents bar Richmond are below us. One game has cost us a pretty good reputation in regards to kickouts.

Interesting, so we played the best kick in team in the league and get beaten in this aspect on the night. Yet we have no strategy and Pagan is a miserable failure.

That stat doesn't really say much, because there's more to kickouts than coast to coast goals. For example. How many 7 point plays are given away? They're the killers. And what is our defensive record for coast to coasts.

Look where Sydney are in that table. Near the bottom, cos they hang in to it and don;t move fast. But they;d stuff up less than we do.

As Malcolm Blight said on Channel 10 on the weekend, the new stat for kick-ins must be - What percentage of your kickins reach the half forward line without turning over? For and against. Simple

I don't think we'd be doing well in this category.

Jarusa - you're putting words in my mouth re- Pagan. I said at the moment we don;t need him lynched. But him blaming kickouts in the post-match press conference for the loss osunded very poor. He has to shoulder responsibility for that.

Where were Richmond ranked before the past round?

1st 2nd 3rd? It doesn't matter, they are obviously in the elite bracket this year in terms of going coast to coast. Something that should be acknowledged with respect to discussing what happened in last weeks game.

Not able to pluck that out, but those figures are the season aggrigate.

It would seem we were better at the kickouts than our opposition prior to this game, so whether or not we let Richmond soar to the top or they were the best prior to the game is irrelevant. The point is all this hoo-hah is based on one game.

Unfortunately rubbish like this adds nothing to the debate Jar.

Who has said Pagan is a miserable failure?

I think Effes is spot on, we would've bumped that figure up MAJORLY last round

Regardless of this, we were ahead of our direct competitors of the four previous rounds.
