By the way Ratts, the appointment is not conditional on you winning the whatever pre-season cup

great news. Good on ya´ Brett.

The only thing that I worry about, is that the media last week seemed to indicate that Carlton did not really ask others to make a genuine proposal and only held informal meetings with other candidates. If things go pairshape again, I wonder how many will be critisizing that very point... Oh well.

Go Blues, lets stick it up em'... NEXT YEAR!

You can't criticise the appointment of Ratten. Nobody can say of the other assistants out there they are better. Ratts is a Carlton man firstly and knows what the word CULTURE means and more importantly what the words PRIDE IN JUMPER mean. I expect Ratts will piss off anyone who disrespects either and bring the Blues onfield to the 21st century like Pratt and Board have off-field.

the new young coach that I saw in 2001 is finally here. Im so glad he made it.

everyone respects him, but they still think we have a long way to go.

But maybe they are wrong.

People make mistakes sometimes.

The players will grow to love him and they will be prepared to play for the jumper like never before.

It will be a very different 2008, you can all see the signs already - but this is only a little taste of what is to come.

No one should worry about 2 more losses. I dont think that Richard Pratt will be very worried about this.

Imagine that fast running possession game with someone like Matthew Kreuzer tapping the ball onto the chest of a fast midfielder - just like big Nick used to do to Gaggs Gallagher. He used special signs to tell Gaggs where to position himself.

We wont be a slow side at all next year.

..welcome aboard Rattski.. ..personally woulda liked to have seen him handed a 3 year deal, we are a fair bit off the pace after all and he's got alot of work ahead of him.. ..but am sure he'll give us drive and improvement and an extension to that contract will come along in time..

..satisfied and content, nay.. ..more'n that, happy..

Fantastic news. There is no better man for the job.
The young boys on the list will learn so much from Bretts no nonsense approach.
I have no doubt Ratts will display the same courage and tenacity that won him the B&F in our last premiership year.He could read the play beautifully well as a player and im sure he will perform equally as well as a coach. Onwards and upwards.

Blueman said some good stuff, so I'm happy. Looking forward to next year.

As for the rest of this year, well, you know the drill...

The thing that was notable about the new young coach was that he was indeed very very young.

There will be a lot of talk about this young coach achieving success early in his career.

But he will start slowly, steadily building his team.

In the year of our football redemption, the second half of the home and away season is a very excitng time.

And as he is the youngest coach in the AFL - then this is indeed a good omen.

Wayne Carey said Ratten won't make a difference because we're shit.

Dont bother listening to Wayne Carey.

There are times when he can be a very silly man.

I cant understand why I ever thought at one point a few years ago I thought that he might be the new young coach. That was madness.

I feel very very happy about tonight.

Congrats Ratts...
Just do your best and you'll shine...
Looking for a 28 years stint with 7 flags ... no pressure though!

Seriously Ratts, loved you as a player and have great hopes for you as a coach...and if you're reading this, you should be ashamed...you've got work to do!

Go Ratts!

Speaking of shit, wayne carey's a shit bloke who will always hold a grudge against Carlton for dumping his old mate den.

Oh... he also said that Nathan Thompson will probably 'neck himself'... that a woman he assaulted should 'get bigger tits'... and that Kelly Stevens should spend 10 minutes in the toilet with him.

Personally, I wouldn't listen to a thing that turd has to say.

Go Ratts!
