Congrats Ratts - my favourite Carlton player as a kid growing up and still got the jumper I wore with 7 on my back.

Hope that everyone supports him and we get back to being the greatest club in the league. Finals 2008!

Two year deal gives the club an out clause if things dont work with Ratts and its probably a sensible contract length from the clubs perspective, it also gives Ratten some time to prove his worth.
I dont think the likes of Bond or Connolly would be what I would be wanting on my team if I was Ratten and I'd like to see him have the chance to pick his own assistants without the club putting him under pressure with some coaches in waiting.....

Just caught up on this news. Welcome aboard Ratts.

Must say, I would have thought a 3 year deal would have been the go, but if it all works out as we hope then this might be a 10 year deal.

GO BLUES!!!

They might sign him up for another year if he does that.

Well done Ratts I'm sure you will go well

A big black dog could do better than the last bloke

Trying to get my head round this two year deal - its a nothing sort of a statement.

What are they trying to say

Ratts your got 2 to show improvement or out you go

Or we think he is the right bloke but we not sure so we will give him 2

Or Voss will be ready in 2 years we dont want to be tied down

Or that last contract trapped us we wont make that mistake again

Or Ratts its 2 years on this low base if you take us to the finals we we negotiate again

Seems odd that the CEO comes out and says we know what we wanted and who we wanted and we got him then only offer him 2 years

I'll have to sleep on this one

great news. Good on ya´ Brett.

The only thing that I worry about, is that the media last week seemed to indicate that Carlton did not really ask others to make a genuine proposal and only held informal meetings with other candidates. If things go pairshape again, I wonder how many will be critisizing that very point... Oh well.

Go Blues, lets stick it up em'... NEXT YEAR!

The Ratten Mandate!

Now that he has the job what does he need to do?

1. Change the culture, as from next year losing and a poor attitude should not be tolerated.
2. Plan to return us to the great club we were not just for a few years but for the long term.
3. Employ assistants. Croscisca on contract so will probably stay. Get rid of others and look at people like Hardwick, Archer, Grant etc.
4. Player development needs to be accelerated.
5. Player list needs some tough decisions especially regarding Fev and Whitnall with atleast another 6 to go.
6. Draft an established star.
7. Start winning from 2008.

Good luck Ratts, let the fun begin!!!!

Gee........wouldn't Archer be a great get?

Their kids do go to the same primary school.

Congrats to Rats...and good luck
