Im sure if you look through history you can find sides that traded away players and ended up wollowing at the foot.. while the player went on to win a premiership or two....

Its qbit like Van Danikens 'Chariots of the Gods'.. you can show anything if you go that angle.
Common sense should prevail.... alot of blokes outside of the square historically have contributed to premiership wins!!!...

Of course if a super duper offer came u should look at it..

But not a champion FF for a couple of hit n miss picks....

I guess it comes down to if you rate Fev a champion FF or not then Synbad. I don't. I'd rate him a very good FF, he still has the potential to be a champion, but it's looking less and less like he will ever completely fulfill his potential.

it would be a bit easier to fulfill his potential if he was in a team that won more than 4 games in a year..

Not to mention a team that could deliver proper disposal to him rather than some of the pathetic crap been dished up to him in the past..

Not to mention a defunct simple bullshit gameplan of Pagans, bombing it to Fev!

Yeah, thats a sure way to shine!

Probably worth mentioning on here that David Parkin was certain on Fox last night that if Ratten has the job then Lance will be offered a new contract at Carlton.

And that Fev would be traded if the right deal came along.

But really, what does Parkin know?

I'm not saying that he doesn't.

I'm just asking the question.

I see what you are saying LurkerBlue...

I guess my concern comes from two things. Firstly, I reckon he is right that Fev will be traded if the right deal comes along (that has been widely specualted for a while now). Secondly, he is meant to be fairly close to Ratten... so maybe he knows a little bit about the Whitnall situation.

Like you, I am just speculating... but my guess is that he does at least know a little bit about what might or might not occur. I guess we will see.

I'd be happy with both those options IF the deal for Fev was remarkable, and the Lance contract was conditional.

The problem with Fev is when he's good you forget how bad he can be, and when he's bad you forget how good he can be. I think both will be there next year and beyond and I reckon that's a good thing.

We have plenty of young forward options for next year. No room for Lance. Crazy to keep him. Trade him to the Dogs.

It would be a recruiting coup if we were able to engineer a half decent trade for Whitnall I reckon.

'Slim' on edge for big day Samantha Lane
Quote:
Whitnall said yesterday his weight had dropped to 96 kilograms after he had become "a bit stricter on a few issues".
At the start of the year, he was listed at 100 kilograms, but the suggestion from someone in the know at the Blues was that he had dropped 10 since then.

Quote:
"They've got some new ideas that I haven't had before and I've really enjoyed it," Whitnall said.

"Once I sort of got this injury, I sort of really sat down and thought about what I can do and what I have to do to be able to get back out there."

There are many who say the penny should have dropped earlier for Whitnall, who, over the course of his now 11-year-old career, has been accused of being less than rigorous about maintaining good shape.

"People ask that question but until you get a serious injury, some people probably don't realise and it's been an injury that's really kicked into me and made me realise what I've got to do to help my knee for one," Whitnall said.

The words of a great leader.

You would have to have not one percetive bone in your body to not realize that Whitnall has dropped this weight to get another contract.

The bottom line is this for the last flower time

Whitnall is too slow and too short for the modern game

He is not good enough

He is impacting on the development of our kids

He has been a poor role model and still is

Why couldnt he have kept this shape right through his career

So what if he sniffs a pizza with the lot and puts on the pounds

He should have tried this hard to keep the weight off throughout his whole career

Keep this guy any longer and we havent learnt from our mistakes

He might have lost the weight but it doesn't mean he will jump higher or run quicker.
By the end of todays game most people will finally realise that Whitnall is no longer suited to todays style of game.

My concern is that after 11 years in the system he should know what is required and to require his own team of fitness staff is a sad indictment of his lack of professionalism. Such a poor example of a leader. He can play, there is no doubt, but realisitically his body can no longer get him to enough contests. His days are numbered in the navy blue.
Will be interesting to see how he goes today.

Of course - I missed him as he was a mere shadow of his former self.

Ummmmmmmmm

theres a reason Fevs trade value went up!!!!!!!!!!

Its cos hes the best forward in the league

Way to miss the point.

Fev's trade value just went up because the market for quality forwards just got smaller.

Supply and demand.

Nah didnt miss the point, l know you werent suggesting to trade him but a lot of people on here would take that as we could trade fev for a top player and have wet dreams over it :)

I'm just sick of hearing the fev trade thing, it wont happen unless he wants it too

You dont go on footy classified and say you wanna stay a blue with 3 games to go in the season then ask for a trade. and he holds all the cards at trade time not the club under his contract.

No, no, no, no and no. The club holds the cards. There is a rule that stops a player being traded under contract, but only in the year they signed the contract.
The club technically never holds the cards in a trade. In regards to a trade no-one can be forced to go anywhere if they don't want to. If Fev says no what are they going to do, sack him. They'd still have to pay his contract. Not flower likely. Besides, the law of the land requires the contract to be honoured unless both parties agree. Anyway, who'd be idiotic enough to trade him anyway. Swann made it very clear last weekend that he wasn't being traded.

Lance looked thinner but seemed to be moving in slow motion....would want to do a lot better in the two weeks to earn a contract..
