SERVER MOVE ON AGAIN: Outage 15/8/2007 From 10pm

Hi All,

Looks like the server move did not happen as smoothly as we would have liked.

As such we will be doing it again (at this stage) tonight at 10pm, and hope to re-open first thing (6am) Thursday morning.

now this is the new server, lets see how she runs.

As its new, with a different IP address you'll have to wait while all the images and scripts download to your cache, so i expect it to be alittle slow to begin with.

Also, apologies to a few posters who would have lost posts between 8:30 and 9:00 this morning.

There was a bit of a timing issue. The transfer from the server took a bit longer than anticipated so TC was brought back online. But then the transfer finally went through, so the decision was made to put in a redirect.

A handfull of posts were lost, but the opportunity had to be taken when it did as transferring an account which is upwards of a gig in size takes a long time and we would have had to start again if we did not take this chance.

Wow, good to see we're back. Between my work's computer issues and this it's been a quiet Carlton day. :p

I've sent the boss home so I can work on her computer, and I've only just been able to load the site now, after a handful of attempts in the last few hours.

Thanks to chucky and Jarusa for all their work though.

The old server is burning rubber again now that TC is gone. The Blueseum is flying. :-D

Well it looks like things are sorted out now.

There has been one casualty with the increased speed.... our revenue from google ads are way down.

There were no ads showing when the site was resolving to an IP address rather than a domain. That might explain some of it.

Got an sms from molly telling me he's getting the cPanel message. I got that the other day but just waited for it to go away. I told him to try deleting cookies and clearing the cache. Will that do the trick?

I get the same issue but if you paste this link into your browser it seems to work. It doesn't re-direct to that path.
