I don't, with a few more dodgy kicks across goal ala Port in the last, T-bird was doing his level best to ensure the Kreuzer is a Blue

What is wrong with you people?
Quote:
Thornton has been sidelined to have ankle surgery, after playing for several weeks with an injury that gradually worsened.

Ratten said Thornton had previously had surgery on the same ankle and needed a three-month recovery period, so the Blues wanted to act quickly to get him right for next season.

"We've decided that it's time to get it looked at and he needs an operation, so it will be done this week," he said.

I've been critical of T-Bird's skills many times in the past...but the guy needs surgery.

And most have been calling for the team to start playing the kids and resting the older ones who need work on injuries.

*sheesh*

Setanta will go back to full back on Lloyd and Lance or Jamo will be given the job on Lucas.

Either way, Lucas will kick a bag I reckon.

My thoughts as well...Lucas is the money man at Essendon* these days and has been under more scrutiny from teams and has been put out of business during the last couple of weeks.
We will see how serious the club are about winning and who gets to stand Lucas....Waite would be the obvious choice based on experience, size etc with Lance likely to play forward.
If I see Lance pick up Lucas then I know we are not serious......

This just shows supporters should think before they criticise an established player's performance.

Good players are usually carrying an injury if they're playing like a hack.

Why play him if he requires surgery? :? :x

Must of been injured for the past two years then?

Didn't Bret quieten Lucas in round one as well beating Didak last week?

I am not sure two fair games out of 19 helps your argument. I think he still wishes he went to Hawthorn. If he can be traded I would do it.

Someone needs to buy a clue. Thornton is one of our best players and by far our best defender. He is rarely beaten these days. He destroyed an on fire Lucas earlier in the season. Yes he's made some mistakes recently, but so have numerous players. It's just that his mistakes are on the last line and look a lot worse.

sorry about being sick of a term which isn't actually applied by any team only their 'loyal' supporter base.

"IF" Thornton is by far our best defender then that shows how bad we are.
I believe he is a 'good average player' who can fill a role. He is not a key position defender in the same class as a Glass, Rutten, Harris, Barry or Scarlett which is so vital to success. He would be a handy third tall option in defence but if we can trade him and get some value for him why not.

I agree that he has not had much support in the past few years and has suffered by our lack of a quality midfield but in my mind he will never be a topliner.

I put in the same position as Fevola in many respects in that if the trade is "right" for US then do it. If not keep him but we still need a class FB and CHB.

As I have stated many times before we have hit rock bottom for this club and it is the time for hard decisions, popular or not. We need to stop hanging on to average players and build for the future.

We have started the cleanout don't stop now!!!!!!

Brett will be spewing, he loves playing against LLoyd more than any other player from what i have been told.

I hope this helps the cause.
From the avatars around TC I would have thought Carlos liked it more ..

What i meant was LLoyd is Bretts favourite match up in the comp.
