I disagree. The dees have the filth this week and the form those pretenders are in the dees will probably do them over regardless. Let alone with the added incentive of Neitz’s 300th game on Friday night. They lifted for White. How much do you reckon they’ll lift for Neitz who is a record games holder and legend of the club? They’ll beat the filth I reckon (im tipping them) and with 5 wins under their belt they wont have to consider the implications of a PP and they’ll be keener to keep the winning run towards the end of the year to build ‘momentum’.

The dees with close to the best side and playing reasonably well are too good for our young side and this will prove to be the case round 22. They still have quality cattle on their list

With a little bit a luck Neitz will pick up a niggle at training and have play his 300th in round 22- Wouldn't they be a bloody shame if that happened

Those keen to get the PP (like me) can only wish. Although I honestly believe we will beat the scum this week. They are sh!t and if we can string the type of footy we showed in the 3rd quarter against the power for 2 or more quarters, we'll kill'em!

Every chance Carlton & Melbourne will both win this week and turn R22 into a contest for the win, not the loss.

That said I don't begrudge Carlton the PP this year - you should've got the R1 PP last year and then there was the too severe draft penalties.

..thanks old55, that post is all class.. ..i've always thought the switch the pp rules the year before was a kick in the guts when we were down.. ..the draft penalties we copped those years back wren't fun either.. ..but essentially we got busted cheating and without a severe penalty there'd be no incentive to behave in the future.. ..the dissappointing thing is that other clubs did it, and are still doing it albeit in an even more sneaky way.. ..the afl likes to claim to be a fair competition with integrity but until they sort out all these extra covert player payments, rectify the salarp cap sanctions in regards to min and max overall payments and until we play a full home and away season the competition will always be a mockery of what it protests to be..

Ratts will keep his job if we win 2 more games.

He has been quite good.

He reacts to bad match ups well.

We have had much better 2nd and 3rd quarters under Ratts.

Old_55, your team showed the form that I think your list possesses on Saturday and I think the game is the turnaround for your team (for 2007). I believe you’ll go in favourites on Friday (maybe not with the bookies but in my humble opinion) and win for Neita. He deserves the win as he has been a loyal servant for your club.

And I believe that if your mob get a couple of your best back and continue to play like you did against the dogs that you will be too good for us in round 22. Especially given how young our team is (especially in experience).

So I think you’ll finish the year with 6 wins and 14th place. Our best and only chance for a win is against the bummers. The PP is tempting but there is a real chance that we won’t get it. And came Saturday when the Navy Blue runs out onto the G, I’ll be hoping like hell we win!

We are continually screwed by this rule - we finished bottom of the ladder for 2 years in a row (2005/2006) and yet we still weren't eligible for the priority pick last year even over 2 years!

If the Dees win this week, then they'll have more to play for in Rnd 22 (because the PP will no longer be at stake for them). Plus they'll get some momentum heading into Rnd 22. They'll then have more chance of beating the blues.

Yes, this Demons win makes R22 even more of an impending debacle. Now, neither team can afford to win.

We are definetly giving up a super 1st rd pick, and they will be giving up a second rounder and potentialy a 1st rd pick next year.....

we have more to lose and i think that's how it will pan out.

They will beat the pies!

I don't think the Dees are worried about next year. I dont think they expect to have two crap years in a row

They have a winning culture unlike carlton people that have a losing draftpick culture

What a shit year it will be if carlton beat melbourne round 22 though.

Carlton could of easily win their last 3 games and the teams coming up are all weaker the next 3 rounds.

The only way the blues will lose all 3 is to put fev on the injury list

I hope the blues win all 3 and finish with 7 wins

We wouldn't need the draft picks if our list was any good - but it aint so we need the picks.

And even if our list is better than it really looks because Pagan was a crap coach and lost the players - why not give Ratts (or whoever else is selected to coach) better material to work with come 2008 going forward.

I'm pretty sure that Pagan would have preferred to have had Goddard and Wells at his disposal since 2003.

Agree Agro. For all the good work Ratts has done we are still only playing 1 decent qrt a game. Not enough to get over Ess and Melb.We need the picks.

Time will tell wont it pal. I just wonder what you guys will talk about next week if we do win though, or will you all be curled up in the foetal position bemoaning the fact that CFC is dead as we know it all because we missed out on Kreuzer??? I reckon all this talk about tanking is the cause of the flu doing the rounds this winter because it is sure giving me the shits!!!

"Pal" you will go to your grave in a foetal position clutching a handful of "Form Fours" - but at least you will still have your honour and your pride in tact.

R22 will prove the tankers in both Melbourne and on TC, as it will be the 5th win for one of us .. hopefully it'll be our 6th after we crush the Scum! What does that do to our PP hopes?

With the tigers on the verge of beating the scum and considering they are up against a inconsistent saints, there is a very real chance that we could finish last. The game between the tigers and saints is at the G. I think anything could happen and the tigers are in with a chance.

Could we end up with a three-peat of spoons and 4 in 6 years?

Tigers are home. Campo has done an ACL & I would say his career is over.

We must be a chance for picks 1 & 2

Just heard the score on the radio, how sh1t are Essendon*, could not even get up for Tird's last game in Melbourne. Sheedy was too busy giving his presentation to Melbourne and forgot about concentrating on his own game.

Maybe it was sheedy ploy, give the tigers hope to get off the bottom, trying to get Carlton to beat Melbourne so they come last, get the no1 pick for himself when he walks in.......

Oh that's a shit way to end for Campo. I was as feral as anyone when he left to the Scum (without knowing what the club's role in it was) - but that game against us was magical enough that it had to be appreciated for what it was.....

As to next week - I'd rather win if we're a chance of finishing bottom - there's no way I'd take the PP if that's the condition. And while people are free to mock the fact that I'd rather finish second last than last - have a look through the years and see how happy we were to do that until a few short years ago....
