If so, who will make up the assistant coaching panel and should Ratts call the shots as far as selecting these assistants?

But in late news I hear Mr Ratten has been summonsed to a meeting with the Essendon* FC Sub Comittee, Mr McKay may try to trump us!!

Carlton will make a decision on Ratten after This weekends game. We will be going all-out to almost win this game!

You'd think Mckay would be looking closely at Pagan....seems the obvious fit... :-D

Wonder if Andy's on Pratts payroll.. 8)

Gavin Crosisca still has a year left on his contract so if they want to get rid of him they need to pay him off.

Braddles and Mitchell are Rattens mates so I cannt see them going anywhere

Libba might be one to go but who knows.

Another mate of Ratten is Diesel wouldn't mind seeing him back at the club teaching the kids a few things would do wounder for Blackwell and Bentick game

I'd probably let go of Libba and Mitchell and set up something like this if I could:

SENIOR COACH: Brett Ratten
SENIOR ASSISTANT / VFL COACH: Chris Bond (assuming he doesn't get the Melbourne gig)
MIDFIELD: Craig Bradley.
DEFENCE: Gavin Crosisca.
FORWARD: Terry Daniher.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT MANAGER / VFL ASSISTANT: Peter Bell.
MANAGER OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS: Stephen Icke
RECRUITMENT CO-ORDINATOR: Wayne Hughes

The only way Ratten would get the Essendon* job would be "if" we didn't offer him ours. Doubt it.

Be good to have a full time ruck coach. We need one.
Can't see Daniher being there. Would prefer Williams as mid coach and Bradley maybe with the kids working on their endurance. Question marks over Bell and Hughes.

A full time ruck coach is a must. Setanta jumps all over his opponents and forgets to put his hand up to tap the ball and Ackland starts his jump before the umpire blows his whistle. Hampson is an athlete, his success will be determined on how he learns the craft of rucking, it makes no sense to me why you'd target him and pay so much for him and then not pay the bills to develop the bloke.

A forward coach is not enough, we need a Key Position coach. We've invested a lot in JK and Austin and they look like future chb and ff/chf to me. They should be personally coached to ensure they reach their potential.

Specialist coaches and development positions are far more important than the senior position for our young list. Hopefully Ratten will be signed and the quid we save on Voss will go towards a team of specialist coaches.

I'd love to get Bell on board in any capacity.
Quality person, and an excellent Footballer. Surely Icke knows his intentions post-football?

I think Daniher does good work with the forwards and young KPPs. And Dempsey is a good ruck coach - he just hasn't had an actual ruckman to coach yet... More KPPs with spring and short-asses like Ackland...

I would love to see Peter Dean in an assistant role.

He is currently coach of the Murray Bushrangers. He loves football, loves Carlton and has great experience with younger players.

It is time for Deano to come back and be an assistant to Ratts.

Adrian Hickmott would be a fantastic get. He's got Gippsland sitting on top of the ladder in his first year there. And has them playing the same kamakaze style of footy that he was famous for. The players clearly love him.

any other former carlton greats we could get back as assistants? :-D

I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of recent retirees from other clubs on board. Would be great to see someone like Darcy at the club.

I would love Peter Dean at the club, he wouold make an outstanding coach IMO.

I would take him as our full time coach in a heartbeat.

Ratts as senior coach with Bradley, Crosisca as assistants. Try and grab Chris Scott as an assistant (I think this will be his last season) to get an outside view of the list, tactics, development etc.

Add a new player development coach as support to the young players. Now this could be Adrian Hickmott who I believe is doing very well with Gippsland Power however I believe he has said he doesn't want to come back to the big smoke.

PS
I should say that a decision on the reserve side may change a lot of roles and create the need for a couple of other coaching assistants/

Being in Perth I don't get to hear too much of the rumours or insider info so maybe this question has been asked and answered.

With all the talk of coaches, assistant coaches etc why does SOS's name never surface. Has he declined a position at Carlton or has he never been offered one?

With his (and his family's) obvious dedication to the Blues one would think that at some stage he would be a good fit for some position at the Club.

SOS is an assistant coach at the Saints at present and apparently there is still some bad feeling over the confession to the AFL which earned the fine and draft penalties.

Thanks -- I knew he was an assistant coach for the backline at the saints but I didn't realise there was still the ill-feeling over that confession.

Wasn't Braddles also involved in that?
